West Brom beat Wrexham 3-2 in an early kick-off on Saturday, with one member of Ryan Mason’s side taking most of the plaudits.

West Brom beat Wrexham 3-2 on Saturday afternoon in a fiercely contested Championship clash.

Buoyed by their 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers on opening weekend, Ryan Mason’s side travelled across the border to the Racecourse ground in high spirits.

An early goal from Isaac Price was equalised by a Lewis O’Brien strike minutes before the interval.

In the second 45′, a goal from Jed Wallace and another Price strike put the Baggies three-one up before an injury-time consolation goal from Sam Smith.

After the game, the West Brom faithful took to social media in unified elation over one “outstanding” Baggies player who was the difference maker against Wrexham.

West Brom fans praise Isaac Price after 3-2 win vs Wrexham

Before the Red Dragons clash, Price discussed West Brom’s promotion ambitions. He told Sky Sports: “We’ve got some good players…

“We want to go and get top six. I think the gaffer has given me a lot of freedom since I’ve joined.

“The gaffer has seen me as a number 10, and that is the role I’ve really had, and the freedom that I’ve had gives me confidence.”

That confidence instilled in Price by Mason exuded against Wrexham, with the 21-year-old earning man-of-the-match for his two-goal display which was pivotal to secure three points for West Brom.

After full-time, the West Brom faithful took to social media to heap praise on the midfielder for his “outstanding” performance.

One Baggies fan said: “Spoke about an evolution not a revolution but something is cooking very nicely here. Price is a different class for this division.”

Another said: “Price is class – can we hold onto him this window? Concern”.

A third West Brom fan posted: “Price is so bloody good”, as another said: “What a win, really good performance especially being away from home. Price just unreal man give him a new 10 year deal”.

Another added: “Outstanding by him… again!”, as one Baggies fan said: “Superb performance from Price”.

A sixth West Brom fan remarked: “Oh my this lad is sensational”.

When analysing the statistics underlying Price’s performance against Wrexham, his display was certainly nothing short of “sensational”.

West Brom fans slammed the ITV coverage for the Wrexham clash, but the supporters were far more complimentary about Price’s performance, and it’s clear to see why.

In 87 minutes on the pitch, Price scored two goals, after opening the scoring before firing West Brom’s third of the afternoon, which proved pivotal after Smith’s late second for Wrexham.

The Northern Ireland international was praised by Mason at full-time. He told Sky Sports: “We understand his ceiling, it’s a very high ceiling.

“He needs to stay humble, keep working. He’s got his goals today, but the work rate and effort he put in is what I’m looking at.”
