Sheffield Wednesday’s future has potentially taken a positive turn amid Dejphon Chansiri’s turbulent reign.
It is safe to say Sheffield Wednesday’s 2024/25 Championship campaign is good as over, with the Owls sitting nine points away from the play-offs with four games left to play. However, the on-field situation at the club has been second to the antics off of it.
Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri has been in the news for all the wrong reasons recently after several first-team Owls players were paid late for March, as well as a select few members of the backroom staff, an issue that was rectified only a day before a deadline loomed, which would have resulted in a catastrophic three-window ban for the club.
Chansiri’s situation at the club hit another turn on Saturday after his lengthy club statement showed his unwavering support to the club, but also the fact that ‘if someone was to come forward, I can assure you I am happy to listen and happy to talk’.
After the most recent update, Chansiri has an opportunity to stick to that promise.

Sheffield Wednesday potential takeover update as Dejphon Chansiri has chance to live up to promise
Reports coming in, via The Star, is that Sheffield Wednesday have three interested parties looking to potentially taking over the club, two of which being from USA, and one located in the UK.
This is in spite of Dejphon Chansiri, in his message to the fans, penned two days ago suggesting that ‘there have been no offers at all’ from potential suitors, but of course, things can move quickly in football.
In the long-winded statement released by Chansiri, he said earlier that ‘I am ready to pave the way for Sheffield Wednesday to move forward from a stronger position’, a statement that would be likely if any of the three clubs interested in acquiring Sheffield Wednesday made progress.
With three interested parties, Sheffield Wednesday’s future lies within the hands of Chansiri, who must be open to these offers, and not instead look to shut them down if they don’t meet his insurmountable evaluation.
Owls fans will want swift progress with takeover for key reason
Whilst off the pitch, many issues will need to be rectified, some of which will take longer than others, there is almost a race against time for Sheffield Wednesday to ensure the future of one man, and that is Danny Rohl.
It is no surprise to see the Owls boss attracting plenty of suitors, with Southampton, whom he worked at previously as an assistant coach under Ralph Hassenhuttl, clearly interested in taking on the German as they return to the Championship.
If a takeover can progress swiftly at Sheffield Wednesday, if at all, then there could be an inch of hope left to keep Rohl at the club, who undoubtedly is one of the Owls’ finest assets; a top young coach who no doubt has brilliant potential in the game.
