Huddersfield Town have had a mixed start to the new season, and many may have expected them to be a little further up the League One table than they currently are.
The Terriers are one of the favourites for promotion in 2025/26, and it is no surprise why considering the signings that they made over the summer, including the arrival of Alfie May from Birmingham City.
However, they are currently sixth in the table, winning five of their first eight games and losing the other three matches.
Huddersfield are just two points off the top of the league, with Cardiff City currently leading the way right now, but there is one frustration that Lee Grant will have right now that must be fixed sooner rather than later.

Huddersfield Town are proving to be a second-half team in League One
Winning games in any division is difficult, but in the EFL, moments change matches in an instant and teams have to be prepared for anything to happen in either half.

However, for Huddersfield, getting a grip on a contest in the first 45 minutes is proving to be relatively difficult right now, and they have headed into the break in the lead just once all season long, while they have trailed three times out of the eight games played.
In comparison, they are dominating their opponents in the second-half. The Terriers have won six of their eight second-halves this campaign, conceding only three goals after their team talk with Grant.
It’s clear to see where the issue lies for Huddersfield in League One, and their slow starts have cost them three times already, including on Saturday when they found themselves 3-0 down to Bradford City at half-time, before scoring the only goal of the second-half at Valley Parade.
The Terriers have the chance to end their first-half problems vs Burton Albion
After a very difficult West Yorkshire derby at the weekend, and for their upcoming clash against Burton Albion on Saturday, Grant knows he has to start brightly.
The Brewers are struggling towards the bottom of the League One table and they are perhaps the perfect opponents for Huddersfield after such a disappointing defeat.

Nevertheless, this is no quick fix for Grant, and becoming a fast starting team is not as easy as waving a magic wand. It comes through preparation in the warm-ups ahead of the game, it comes from keeping the ball in the first five minutes and not allowing the other team to get a foothold in the match.
There is still plenty of time for Huddersfield to become the League One super team that they can be, but it starts with getting the performance right in the first-half.
