We watched all the action at Elland Road to deliver Leeds United vs Bristol City player ratings for every player on the pitch in this huge Championship fixture.
It was a strong start for Leeds United, who had all of the ball and created a handful of chances in the opening stages, and even had the ball in the net courtesy of Manor Solomon but his goal was rightly ruled out for offside.
The deadlock was broken not long after when a ball was whipped to the back post by Solomon to find the brilliant Ao Tanaka, left totally unmarked by the Bristol City defence, who tucked away with composure.
It was much of the same in the second half, too, with Leeds flying out of the traps and peppering Max O’Leary with shot after shot, who dealt with it the best he could in the Bristol City goal.
A superb piece of play from Joel Piroe unlocked Bristol City to set up Willy Gnonto for Leeds’ second just before the hour-mark, and the game was pretty much over as a contest by that point.
In the final ten minutes, Daniel Farke made some changes to his team, introducing Largie Ramazani, who repaid that faith with a goal immediately after coming on to make it 3-0, before adding a second and Leeds’ fourth just before the final whistle.
Pundits expected Bristol City to be ‘fired up’ for this one, but it was a miserable showing from Liam Manning’s men, who rolled over for Leeds from start to finish.
Here are our Leeds United vs Bristol City player ratings from the ruthless showing at Elland Road.

Leeds United player ratings
Karl Darlow – 6
Absolutely nothing to do in the first half. Hardly much more to do in the second, but did what he had to do when needed.
Jayden Bogle – 6
Some decent work when cutting inside, but did play a few stray passes down the wing that he’ll be unhappy with.
Joe Rodon – 8
A quality, highly composed performance from the commanding centre-half. Made it all look so easy at the back as he stifled the Bristol City attack, and helped Leeds progress out of defence with the ball at his feet.
Ethan Ampadu – 7
Less involved than Rodon, but still as calm and was alert when called upon.
Junior Firpo – 8
Got forward really well to support and create space for Solomon. Constantly playing dangerous balls, none more so than his decisive assist for Ramazani in the closing stages.
Ao Tanaka – 9
Dictated the flow of the game from the middle with nice footwork and neat passes. A lovely finish to cap a brilliant performance from one of the very best players in the Championship this year.
Ilia Gruev – 7
Played a quietly important role in the heart of the midfield, doing the dirty work needed for Tanaka to roam forward.
Wilfried Gnonto – 7
A lively display but certainly one littered with wrong decisions and a poor final ball. More than made up for it with a sublime finish to double Leeds’ advantage.
Brenden Aaronson – 7
Will be disappointed not to have got on the scoresheet early on. A hard-working, dynamic display from the midfielder, though, with moments of real flair and quality.
Manor Solomon – 9
Heavily involved, good overlap connection with Firpo. Looked determined to be Leeds’ main source of creativity and danger. Caused chaos for Bristol City all night. Leeds should sign him up immediately after tonight’s showing.
Joel Piroe – 9
Really nice movement and some great, selfless link-up play. Nothing exemplified that more than his incredible touch, turn, and cross-field pass to set up Gnonto for that second goal. A stunning performance from the striker.
Patrick Bamford – 5
Didn’t manage to get involved too much in his ten minute cameo.
Largie Ramazani – 8
Scored with his first touch of the game after a sublime pass from Junior Firpo. Offered some lovely movement and wide play, and really looked like he wanted to make an impact and prove his worth. Bagged a fantastic second just before the final whistle – Farke cannot ask for more from his sub.
Mateo Joseph – 6
Involved after coming on, with some good creative play from the number 10 area.
Joshua Guilavogui – N/A
Didn’t really have time to make an impact.
Sam Byram – N/A
Brought on more as a testimonial appearance than anything meaningful.

Bristol City player ratings
Max O’Leary – 8
Huge save to deny Brenden Aaronson on 20 minutes. Bristol City would have been completely out of this contest in the early stages were it not for O’Leary. Produced even better saves in the second half, including one absolutely stunning reaction stop.
Zak Vyner – 4
Like the rest of the Bristol City defence, Vyner simply could not deal with the threats down that side, with Aaronson and Solomon causing him all kinds of problems.
Robert Dickie – 5
Tasked with keeping a prolific Joel Piroe quiet and failed at that task, with the Dutchman finding plenty of space in that central area.
Haydon Roberts – 6
Fared slightly better than his defensive partners, being able to cope with Gnonto to a degree in the first half, but let him go in the second half for that killer second goal.
George Tanner – 4
Has to take some responsibility for the amount of freedom and influence Manor Solomon was afforded down the left for Leeds. Had no chance to push on and make a difference in attack, and struggled to have an impact defensively.
Marcus McGuane – 4
Absolutely lost the midfield battle with Tanaka, failing to impose himself physically and struggled to get any time to influence the game with the ball at his feet.
Jason Knight – 5
A disappointingly quiet night for the Bristol City skipper, who went missing in the middle of the park.
Ross McRorie – 6
Showed fight and grit, but was unable to really assert himself on the game in any kind of meaningful way.
Max Bird – 5
Failed to make an impact in attacking areas and was rightly subbed off on the hour-mark.
George Earthy – 7
By far Bristol City’s best outfield player. He was the only one remotely looking like he could create something of note.
Nahki Wells – 3
Offered absolutely nothing for Bristol City. You could say he was starved of service, but he did very little to work his own opportunities, too.
Sinclair Armstrong – 5
Brought on in the second half but the game was gone by that point and he struggled to do anything of note for his side.
Anis Mehmeti – 5
At least looked slightly more energetic and driven than Nahki Wells, but still had absolutely no service to make any kind of difference on the game.
Sam Bell – 6
None of the Bristol City subs made an impact at all, though Bell did at least help to register the Robins’ first shot of the game.
Scott Twine – 5
Another nothing display from a Bristol City substitute, but it’s hardly his fault given the nature of the game by the time he came on.
