Middlesbrough drew 0-0 with Norwich City on Saturday afternoon, and EFL Analysis kept an eye on both sides to offer player ratings for the crunch clash.

Middlesbrough drew 0-0 against Norwich City at the Riverside on Saturday afternoon, with the point seeing Michael Carrick’s side drop to ninth in the Championship table.

Coventry’s controversial defeat at Luton Town in the early kick-off opened the door for Boro to cement their top-six place, but a close contest between the two sides saw Boro slip down the table. Despite Norwich having nothing to play for, Boro could not carve out many clear-cut chances, and the ones they did create were halted by man-of-the-match Canaries keeper Angus Gunn.

Boos chorused around The Riverside at full-time with Boro now left relying on other results, as well as needing to beat fellow top-six hopefuls Coventry on the road on the final Championship day.

After the draw, Boro fans took to social to slam Carrick’s tactics, which has seen his side’s top-six hopes suffer a major blow heading into the final day.

Dael Fry – 7/10

Solid effort in defence and was battling well in all thirds.

Hayden Hackney – 7/10

Had a long-range effort denied from 25 yards out. Held off defenders well to set up Azaz to test Gunn.

Jonny Howson – 7/10

Caught offside in dangerous position after Conway’s flick on moments before half-time.

Anfernee Dijksteel – 7/10

Some strong tackles on Sainz. Goal-saving late interception.

Aidan Morris – 7.5/10

Good challenge early and was a persistent presence in midfield. Battled way through Norwich’s defence to test Gunn with a low strike. Inches away from breaking deadlock.

Finn Azaz – 7/10

Had dangerous shot blocked by Doyle.

Morgan Whittaker – 6/10

Had chance to come inside and shoot with left but scuffed shot wide.

Tommy Conway – 6.5/10

Quiet in the opening exchanges. Kept probing and driving in the second half and was a constant presence.

Samuel Iling-Junior – 6.5/10

Tried to inject some pace into Boro’s attack.

Kelechi Iheanacho – 6

Early opening just outside the box but slipped as he struck the ball as he started bright. Hooked after an hour after having only one shot on goal.

Stretched to tip Hackney’s shot from distance round the post. Some fantastic finger-tip saves low from Morris shots. Made 5 crucial saves to keep it goalless.

Jack Stacey – 7/10

Made some good probing runs down the right flank.

Ruiari McConville – 7/10

Solid defensive display before he was taken off.

Shane Duffy – 6.5/10

Made some big blocks and challenges.

Callum Doyle – 7.5/10

Great block from an Azaz strike that could’ve been a goal otherwise.

Kenny McLean – 7/10

Great challenge on Whittaker to halt attack.

Jacob Wright – 8/10

Manchester City loanee saw an early long-range effort go over. Lovely turns and forward passes through the lines.

Marcelino Nunez – 6/10

Dangerous ball in found Wright before he was flagged for handball.

Ben Slimane – 6.5

Tidy in possession and also worked well off the ball for Norwich but hooked after an hour.

Borga Sainz – 7.5/10

Threatening when drifting inside and probing at Boro backline.

Full-blooded tackle early on against countryman Morris.
