It’s a very exciting time to be a Wrexham fan, and with Championship football less than two months away, work behind the scenes is underway to get the squad prepared for 2025/26.
Phil Parkinson has guided his team to three successive promotions, and while it will be an incredibly tough task to make that a fourth, the Red Dragons are showing great ambition to avoid relegation back to League One.
Wrexham are keen on Barry Bannan, with Sheffield Wednesday’s financial woes putting question marks on the future of many key players at Hillsborough, while they are also battling Leeds United for Aaron Cresswell.
However, more firepower is needed in the final third and bringing in strikers with Championship experience will be crucial to their chances of finishing in a mid-table position. But Swansea City may have the player who the Red Dragons need.

Wrexham must sign Jerry Yates from Swansea City
EFL Analysis revealed in May that Jerry Yates is likely to leave Swansea this summer after spending the 2024/25 campaign out on loan at Derby County.

The former Blackpool forward scored 10 goals in the Championship for the Rams, as they avoided relegation on the final day of the season.
Yates has played 194 times in the Championship, scoring 41 goals and registering 12 assists. Four of those assists came while he was at Pride Park, but Derby are unlikely to bring the 28-year-old back to the club on a permanent deal and Wrexham must capitalise.

Paul Mullin’s departure leaves ample space for Jerry Yates
Ryan Hardie looks set to join the Red Dragons, and competition for the starting striker position will already be high between him and Sam Smith.
While adding Yates will lead to questions over how Parkinson fits all these players in, Paul Mullin is seemingly leaving the club in the coming weeks and Wrexham need to add more cover.
Lowering the average age of the squad is crucial to the long-term success of the Welsh outfit. This will take longer than just one transfer window, but the process must be started now.

Yates does have his problems with finishing at times, but these can be worked on and with confidence he does have the quality to be a decent Championship striker.
