Wrexham have an incredibly busy summer ahead of them following their promotion to the Championship from League One, and Phil Parkinson has his work cut out to ensure their survival.
After winning three successive promotions, the Red Dragons have found themselves in the EFL’s top division and ready to do battle against two former Premier League winners in Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City, as well as a host of established second tier sides.
It’s going to be an extremely tough year for the Welsh outfit, and their manager must be allowed to bring in fresh faces at the Racecourse Ground with plenty of experience at this level and beyond.
Wrexham are already interested in Tom Cairney, and their ambition looks to be incredibly high. However, they need more going forward if they are to avoid the drop and push towards mid-table, and a soon-to-be free agent may just be the answer.

Wrexham must capitalise on Rangers’ Tom Lawrence decision this summer
According to a report from the Daily Mail in January, both Burnley and Sheffield United were interested in securing the services of Tom Lawrence after a tough few years in the Scottish capital with Rangers.

A move never came about, and he has now been released by the Gers after making just 18 league appearances this season, following another injury-hit campaign.
However, Lawrence has proven his quality in the Championship on a number of occasions – most recently with Derby County, whom he spent five years with between 2017 and 2022. He captained the Rams in his final season with the club, before heading north across the border.
Wrexham need a player with the experience that the 31-year-old has, and with several Premier League free agents available, it would not be a surprise to see Parkinson dive into this market to help bring more firepower to his squad.

Tom Lawrence’s injury record will be a concern to teams interested in him
Despite his obvious talents, signing Lawrence would come with a myriad of problems for the Red Dragons that they would have to work around.
Since moving to Rangers, the attacking midfielder has struggled with injuries, and Parkinson would have to find a way to ensure that these do not become a recurring part of his game if his side do make a move for the ex-Manchester United youngster.
Lawrence has a wonderful right-foot, and he can create moments that few others can in the Championship. But he would come at a price, and if Wrexham are to entice players with his reputation, they will have to offer high wages.
Nevertheless, with the likes of Paul Mullin potentially leaving the Red Dragons, more stars are needed. As well as that, the Wales international is from the town, and bringing him back home would be an incredible way for the club to get their second tier story started.
