Birmingham City’s first team summer business concluded on transfer deadline day, but fans will love their academy’s latest signing.

The Blues are back in the Championship after winning League One last term, and EFL Analysis exclusively revealed Chris Davies has time to get Birmingham clicking after suffering three consecutive defeats for the first time since his arrival.

League rivals Ipswich Town completed the rare double signing of former England international Ashley Young for their first team and his son Tyler for their academy this summer.

Now, Birmingham have followed in their footsteps, bringing in one of their established players’ children into their youth set up.

Birmingham City’s academy sign Ryan Allsop’s son Charlie

Birmingham’s first choice goalkeeper Ryan Allsop’s son, Charlie, is now part of the Blues’ academy.

The club’s academy’s X account posted a photo of the youngster signing his deal alongside his dad.

“A big congratulations to Charlie Allsop, who signed for Blues Academy this week!” they wrote.

“No prizes for guessing what positions he plays,” the post added, alongside a gloves emoji.

Allsop, who joined the club in 2024, will now be able to watch his son play for Birmingham – the club he has supported his whole life.

Ryan Allsop’s lifelong association with Birmingham City

33-year-old Allsop was born in Birmingham and first started going to Blues games with his own dad more than 20 years ago.

He was sat alongside him at Wembley when the club completed their extraordinary 2011 League Cup final triumph over Arsenal.

Since joining from Hull City after Birmingham’s relegation to League One, Allsop has made 50 appearances for his boyhood club, winning the third tier title last season.
