Birmingham City have had a successful summer transfer window, and following promotion from League One, Chris Davies has shaped a squad capable of a top six finish.
Davies admitted there was work to do still in the final days of the window, and while not every move has paid off, the arrival of Patrick Roberts at St. Andrew’s is exciting.
However, there has also been the desire to let go of some of those stars that helped the West Midlands outfit to the Championship in record-breaking fashion in 2024/25.
Krystian Bielik and Alfie May are perhaps the two biggest names to have left Birmingham this summer. Now, another striker could be set to depart on deadline day.
Lyndon Dykes closes in on move to Hibernian from Birmingham City
Lyndon Dykes is relatively out of favour at St. Andrew’s now, and his game time is going to be severely limited going forward.

However, according to Pete O’Rourke, he may have been offered a reprieve as Scottish club Hibernian are ‘in talks’ with the Championship about a loan move to Easter Road.
The Scotland international has made four appearances this season in the second tier, scoring once. But, he has played just 27 minutes of league action.
He only featured 25 times in League One in 2024/25 and it seems unlikely that he is going to usurp Jay Stansfield or Kyogo Furuhashi right now.

Why teams in Scotland can still make deals
Although the transfer window has come to a close in England, for those in Scotland, they still have the opportunity to sign players until 11pm.
This does leave clubs in the EFL possibly vulnerable to losing key players. However, for Birmingham it also allows them the chance to offload players such as Dykes to teams who are not direct rivals.

The striker turns 30 in October, and it is very unlikely that he is going to develop to become anything more than a rotational option this season, and getting him off the books would be a huge positive for Blues.
Nevertheless, it may take a few hours to see if it is Hibs who win the race for Dykes from Birmingham.
