Birmingham City have just secured an incredible promotion to the Championship, and the Blues are already looking to flex their financial power.
Chris Davies’ men destroyed League One at a record-breaking pace, and now, attention has quickly turned to planning for the Championship.
Birmingham will have an ‘aggressive’ transfer window, with the club aiming to follow in the footsteps of Ipswich Town who achieved back-to-back promotions.
Tom Wagner also suggested the Blues could break their transfer record this summer, surpassing the £15 million paid for Jay Stansfield in 2024.
That is an exciting prospect for supporters of the Midlands giants, who will be delighted to see that their latest transfer could be on the horizon.

Birmingham City given green light to sign Peterborough United winger Kwame Poku
Birmingham have already confirmed the signing of Hannover 96 defender Phil Neumann who will join the club once the window opens.
There is also an emphasis on securing quality in wide areas, and we exclusively revealed in April that Birmingham were ‘in talks’ to sign Kwame Poku from Peterborough United.
Now, a transfer for the exciting winger appears to be edging ever closer, as Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett confirmed that Birmingham are ‘pushing hard’ to sign the Ghanaian international.
It was also revealed by Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony that a move to the Blues would be the ‘best of his life’, seeing it as a chance for him to secure Premier League football in the space of a year.
As Poku sees his contract expire in the summer and doesn’t turn 24 till August, any interested side will have to agree on a compensatory fee with Posh, which can otherwise be determined via a tribunal.
That places Birmingham in the driving seat for his signature, although Dorsett suggests both clubs will want to avoid arbitration.

Birmingham will have to pay a hefty fee to land Poku
Peterborough won the Vertu Trophy final against Birmingham City earlier this year, and the club will have laid eyes on his incredible talent after he scored against them in the league fixture.
Poku has been ‘unplayable’ in the third tier, having scored 12 goals and laid on eight assists in 27 league matches, with supporters understandably excited to see how he fares in the second tier.
But, while Poku will only cost Birmingham a compensation fee this summer, MacAnthony has explained why he expects Peterborough to receive a sizeable sum for their prized asset.
“There are many things a tribunal takes into account when setting a transfer fee,” MacAnthony said on the Hard Truth podcast.
“The offers we have already had are part of that as are his appearances, his goals, the contract offer we have made him and what we have paid in transfer fees ourselves, so we will still get millions and millions for him.”
It will be interesting to see what Poku costs the Blues but luckily, they’ve got the finances to outmuscle any team in the race.
