As we head towards transfer deadline day it seems Blackburn Rovers are going all out to add to Valerien Ismael’s squad, and new man Ryoya Morishita comes with big hype.

Blackburn Rovers have lost some key players this summer, including Tyrhys Dolan and Callum Brittain, while captain Lewis Travis is set to sign for Derby County imminently.

However, some shrewd additions like Ryan Alebiosu and Moussa Baradji can help to offset those losses. Now, another new Blackburn Rovers signing is through the door, and it’s a very exciting one.

Ryoya Morishita joins Rovers from Legia Warsaw for just under Β£2m, and if his first words as a Blackburn player are anything to go by, fans could be in for a treat.

What Ryoya Morishita said after signing for Blackburn Rovers

Speaking to the club’s social media account for the first time since arriving in Lancashire, Morishita offered fans an insight into the kind of player they will see.

He said: β€œI am very happy to have joined this great club. I’ve heard only good things from your hero, Yuki Ohashi, your hero. I’ve heard only positive things.

β€œI am a fighter. I run a lot, I fight a lot. But especially last season, in Poland, I scored a lot of goals and provided a lot of assists. I want to show the results to the fans. I’m not so young, so I want to show results and help Blackburn Rovers as much as possible. I have to score. I have to assist.”

What kind of player is Ryoya Morishita?

Ryoya Morishita can play anywhere across the front line, with his time divided between left wing, right wing, and the number 10 roles for Legia Warsaw in 2024/25.

He scored 14 goals and registered 14 assists in 51 appearances in all competitions last season, including four goals and six assists in the Europa Conference League.

The 28-year-old Japanese international arrives at Ewood Park with plenty of pedigree and some impressive numbers to boot.

Morishita is a relatively small, nimble player with a low centre of gravity, tricky feet, and brilliant vision in attacking areas to create chances for himself and others. He never stops running, and that persistence and energy will quickly endear him to the Rovers fans.
