League One outfit Bolton Wanderers are optimistic over the prospect of landing one Celtic striker, but there is currently an issue that must be overcome.
Bolton Wanderers are gearing up for the 2025/26 League One season under the stewardship of Steven Schumacher.
Several signings have already arrived at the ToughSheet Stadium, with Teddy Sharman-Lowe joining Bolton, whilst Xavier Simons arrived from Hull City.
Schumacher has also bolstered his squad with the striker signing of Sam Dalby from Wrexham, who endured a prolific season in the Scottish Premiership last season with Dundee United.
Bolton are keen to add further attacking firepower to their ranks, with one Celtic forward at the top of their priority list, however, an issue remains regarding any potential deal.

Bolton Wanderers currently held back by Celtic asking price for Johnny Kenny
As reported by Alan Nixon on Patreon, Bolton Wanderers are keen on signing Celtic striker Johnny Kenny this week, with the League One side ‘hoping to agree a fee’ soon for the forward.
Unfortunately, there is yet to be an agreement on the valuation of Kenny – Celtic are keen to sell him for £1m, whilst Bolton are willing to do business with £500k up front and potential extras.
The 22-year-old signed for Celtic last season and managed to score a goal on his first start in a 5-1 away win at Aberdeen.
Kenny notably shone for Shamrock Rovers before his move to Scotland, where he achieved a highly impressive five goals in six European Conference League matches.

What Brendan Rodgers has said about Johnny Kenny
Bolton Wanderers’ top target, Johnny Kenny, made an early impression at Celtic, although he was not able to score more than once.
Nonetheless, it is clear that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers holds Kenny in high regard after what he said about him earlier this month regarding interest in him and his abilities.
“I’ve spoken to a few clubs that want to take him on loan,” said Rodgers when speaking to Celts Are Here. “I just want to have a look in pre-season just to see where we’re at and see what’s going to be the best for his development.
“We obviously want him to be a Celtic player. He’s a goalscorer. There’s absolutely no doubt about that.
“It’s what’s going to be the best for him and Celtic and whether that’s going to be here or whether it’s just go away and get some more games and play.
“But I’ll assess that over pre-season.”
At such a young age, Kenny has shone on the European stage and could easily build on that to become a formidable star in League One. Hopefully, an agreement can come into place between Bolton Wanderers and Celtic, with the League One outfit keen to land the forward sooner rather than later.
