With just over a week to go in the summer transfer window, clubs like Derby County and Swansea City will be looking to make the finishing touches to their squads.
It’s been a relatively positive summer for the Rams, and they’re continuing to pursue deals for new players, with Koki Saito and Lewis Travis high on their radar.
Meanwhile, a third bid for Max Johnston has been launched, as John Eustace looks to bring in more cover at right-back after a poor start to the season in defence.
Nevertheless, Kaide Gordon has now been linked with both Derby and Swansea, but a move is not quite as straightforward as may have been hoped for.

Exclusive: Derby County and Swansea City face potential drawback in Kaide Gordon battle
Gordon, who came through the ranks in the East Midlands earlier in the decade, spent last season out on loan at Norwich City and Portsmouth, making his way to the Championship from Liverpool.

Now, with Derby and Swansea chasing, EFL Analysis can provide an exclusive update following information from our Chief Football Correspondent, Graeme Bailey. He said: “There are so many teams in for this boy. In a way he has kind of dropped behind Rio Ngumoha at Liverpool. He was previously a bigger name but Ngumoha has a real path to the first team there now.
“But Gordon now has got his pick of clubs in the Championship. Derby and Swansea are among them but there’s half the Championship interested in him. The player, and Liverpool, are just assessing their options now to find the best fit.
“It would definitely be a loan move. There are very few clubs in the Championship who could afford to tempt him there permanently.”

Kaide Gordon is a risky signing
At just 20, there is no denying that Gordon has a lot of potential. However, injury issues have plagued him over the last couple of years.
Given how much Derby have struggled with injuries of their own, especially out on the wing at Pride Park, signing the Liverpool youngster is risky.

The Rams have three players returning from the treatment room, but they will take a number of weeks to get up to speed and Gordon may be in a similar position after a quiet pre-season.
Nevertheless, if Derby are still lacking out wide come the very end of the window, and the former Ram is still available, then it would not be a surprise to see an approach made.
