Huddersfield Town are already strong contenders for the League One title this season, and their latest signing Lynden Gooch is determined to make that happen.

With Lee Grant arriving as their new manager, Huddersfield Town were already an exciting and intriguing proposition ahead of the new campaign.

However, all the Huddersfield signings this summer have been very impressive indeed, with Championship level players dropping down to League One in many cases.

The likes of Ryan Ledson and Marcus Harness will bring high-level experience and quality to the Terriers squad, and now Lynden Gooch has joined them.

Lynden Gooch joins Lee Grant’s Huddersfield Town revolution

After becoming a free agent upon the expiry of his Stoke City contract, Gooch has been searching for a new club all summer but has now found his new home.

Speaking to the club as part of his first interview as a Huddersfield player, Gooch said: “I’m really happy to have this move complete, and I can’t wait to get involved with pre-season as soon as possible. I had time to assess my options this summer and really think about where I wanted the next step of my career to be, and after speaking to Lee Grant, I had no doubt that Huddersfield Town was the right club to join.

“I’m an ambitious person and hungry to compete, and that’s exactly what I see across the squad here, too. I’ve been promoted from this league before and want to have that feeling again, and I know that’s what everyone at the club is going to be fighting for.

“The supporters here have always been amazing to play against, so I’m excited to now be on their side. We have a big challenge ahead, but my full focus is on making sure the club and our fans are happy at the end of the season.”

Can anyone stop Huddersfield Town winning League One?

Before the summer transfer window, our early prediction for League One had Plymouth Argyle winning the title.

Argyle have a brilliant new manager in Tom Cleverley, but they’ve lost key players like Maksym Talovierov and Ryan Hardie, and will need to replace them soon.

Huddersfield, meanwhile, have made incredibly shrewd signings already and don’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. As things stand, they’ve got to get promoted at the very least, or Grant’s first season in charge will likely be deemed a failure.
