Hull City’s financial troubles were thought to have derailed their chances of signing Louie Barry ahead of Sheffield United but EFL Analysis understands that isn’t the case.
It was reported last week that Hull City were set to sign Louie Barry for £3.5 million from Aston Villa following a loan spell that was cut short at the MKM Stadium by injury.
But then it unfortunately emerged that the Tigers were unable to meet Barry’s financial demands, including Villa’s proposed 50% sell-on clause, which meant a deal looked increasingly unlikely.
A switch to East Yorkshire then seemed completely dead in the water when Hull were hit with a three-window embargo for failing to maintain transfer payments.
As City are currently not allowed to spend fees on new players, fans were resigned to the idea that Barry would eventually move elsewhere, but surprisingly, they’ve been handed fresh hope of landing the 22-year-old.

Louie Barry’s move to Hull City cannot be ‘completely ruled out’
It is well known that former Tigers boss Ruben Selles is interested in taking Barry to Sheffield United this summer after signing him for Hull in January.
An opportunity to sign for one of the promotion favourites is surely appetising for the Englishman, though as it stands, Villa are exploring the possibility of loaning the attacker out once more.
As per information from our Chief Football Correspondent, Graeme Bailey, EFL Analysis can exclusively reveal that Hull are still in the race to sign Barry alongside Sheffield United and other Championship clubs.
We are told there is ‘confidence’ regarding their whole financial situation, with Acun Ilicali hopeful of reducing the punishment and also continuing their pursuit of the La Masia graduate.
Therefore, it shouldn’t be ‘completely ruled out’ that Barry ends up at Hull, though it’s a saga that looks set to run on for the rest of the summer before being resolved.

Hull stare relegation in the face without attacking reinforcements
Supporters experienced a painful watch last season as Hull found the net the fewest times in the division, while Joao Pedro finished as the club’s top scorer with just six.
Pedro has since had his contract terminated, and with top assister Abu Kamara attracting interest from Rangers, City are watching their attack get dismantled.
There is hope that the returning Mohamed Belloumi and Liam Millar can recapture their early-season form before suffering their ACL injuries, but as it stands, there are talented wingers to select from, with no prolific striker.
Oli McBurnie was a top target for the Tigers; however, Hull have since paused their recruitment before their pre-season trip to Turkey, raising doubts over their strategy.
Hull have to hope that their embargo is overturned and they can sign players for transfer fees; otherwise, relegation is a real possibility.
