This summer has been a very difficult one for Hull City and their supporters.
After narrowly avoiding relegation last season, there were hopes that this transfer window could be used to strengthen the squad quickly to ensure that a mid-table finish is the minimum in the new campaign.
However, the Tigers have been placed under a three-window transfer ban and they have had to work under strict guidelines to get the new players into the club.
However, with an appeal to this sanction scheduled for Wednesday, Acun Ilicali is continuing to back Sergej Jakirovic and with Oli McBurnie set to sign, there is another striker who Hull are targeting.

Hull City target Joe Gelhardt return from Leeds United
Joe Gelhardt spent the second half of last season on loan at the MKM Stadium, and he scored five times in the Championship to help the team avoid relegation.

He returned to Leeds United at the end of the campaign, but now Hull are working on a deal to bring him back to East Yorkshire as the Tigers look for progression under Jakirovic, according to Hull Live.
The striker has not featured for the Whites in their standard pre-season friendlies so far, although the report states that he has appeared in behind-closed-doors games.
Gelhardt is keen on a return, and the new Tigers manager is a fan of the 23-year-old after his impact in amber-and-black last season.

Joe Gelhardt needs somewhere to call home
Ever since joining Leeds from Wigan Athletic in 2020, it’s been difficult for Gelhardt to make his way into the first team and he has found himself out on loan on two separate occasions.
It is clear to see that he feels at home at Hull, and if they are able to work a deal, then it may just help the forward get the most out of his potential, while also offering the Tigers further depth in those attacking positions.

Five goals in 20 appearances perhaps does not show just how much of an impact Gelhardt had on the team. A full season could be the perfect way for the former Sunderland loanee to get to his very best and develop into the player he can be.
