Ipswich Town could lose two key men before deadline day with ‘more offers expected’ from Premier League

Having managed to keep the core of his squad intact this summer, many have tipped Kieran McKenna to guide Ipswich Town to promotion in 2025/26, but that could all change if he loses two of his top players.

To be fair, Ipswich showed promise last season, especially in the first half of the campaign. A poor back end of the season cost them dearly, though, and the Tractor Boys dropped back down to the Championship.

With Kieran McKenna sticking around and Liam Delap being the only major departure, it’s hard to imagine Ipswich not being in the title race in 2025/26.

Ipswich have made some good signings, too, but McKenna will have to hold firm for the next three weeks if he is to avoid a disastrous end to the transfer window.

Leif Davis wanted by Premier League clubs

The latest report on Ipswich Town’s transfer activity comes from Daily Telegraph reporter Mike McGrath, who claims Leif Davis is being courted by a number of Premier League clubs.

McGrath said: “Ipswich have turned down bids for Leif Davis from the Premier League. The 25-year-old has been on the shortlist of clubs looking at left-backs after 24/25 campaign in Premier League. The club is determined to have him part of Championship promotion campaign but more offers expected.”

Davis was a standout performer for Ipswich last season despite their struggles, and would be a massive loss for McKenna ahead of the new campaign.

McKenna will be even more keen to keep hold of the left-back given his back-up, Connor Townsend, suffered an ACL injury in pre-season and will be out for months.

Omari Hutchinson saga takes a new twist

As well as Leif Davis, Ipswich are also facing a fight to keep hold of star man Omari Hutchinson, as Nottingham Forest enter the race for the winger.

Hutchinson has missed some pre-season action this summer, and has previously been very close to joining Brentford before negotiations between the two clubs fell apart.

Now, the latest comes from David Ornstein, who claims Forest have had a bid of around £35m rejected for Hutchinson.

Ornstein says talks are ongoing between the two clubs, but it is known Ipswich would demand a “higher fee” if they were to let the 21-year-old leave.
