EFL Analysis can now share the latest news regarding Middlesbrough’s moves for David Strelec, Danny Ings, Sverre Halseth Nypan and Cheikh Sabaly.

Middlesbrough have signed Sontje Hansen this week and are working on further signings.

They have lost Rav van den Berg to FC Koln, while Rob Edwards has said this week that Boro are eyeing more transfers.

Now, EFL Analysis has updates on four players who have been linked with a move to the Riverside Stadium.

Sverre Halseth Nypan and Cheikh Sabaly to Middlesbrough latest

Middlesbrough are closing in on a loan move for Manchester City youngster Sverre Halseth Nypan.

On the Nypan deal, our transfer expert Graeme Bailey told EFL Analysis: “Boro and City have very strong ties that have been established in recent years – they have done a number of deals with Nypan being the latest.

“City and Nypan had a number of options, but City really wanted him to gain some English experience, and I am told from City’s end that he is not moving to sit on the bench, so it will be fascinating to see where he is used considering Hayden Hackney remains.”

We can also confirm via Bailey that Middlesbrough have bid for Metz forward Cheikh Sabaly, who was linked to Brentford earlier this month, and they are not too far away, but a deal is not done.

Middlesbrough transfer updates on David Strelec and Danny Ings

Elsewhere, we revealed earlier this month that Middlesbrough were in talks with Danny Ings over a transfer.

Now, we can share that Middlesbrough have, at the moment, backed away from an Ings deal after issues over the contract.

Boro made what they deemed a good offer, but there was no agreement, and as it stands, that one is over.

Meanwhile, the Teessiders have had fresh talks over David Strelec. However, Bratislava have Europa League qualifiers to contend with this month. They play a second leg tie on August 28th, which is complicating any potential offers.
