Phil Parkinson addresses Wrexham’s Kieffer Moore interest, he’s looking at ‘lots of options’

Wrexham have slowly but surely started to make the necessary signings to help build a squad capable of fighting in the Championship.

Josh Windass is raring to go at the Racecourse Ground after he left Sheffield Wednesday as a free agent earlier this month, while Lewis O’Brien has joined on a three-year deal.

Phil Parkinson is looking for the Red Dragons’ best ever league finish this season, and with the first Championship fixtures of the campaign a little over a week away, plenty of excitement is starting to build in North Wales.

However, a striker is still needed and after showing interest in Kieffer Moore, Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has addressed the rumours.

The Sheffield United striker had an inconsistent year in 2024/25, and it was his mistake at Wembley that allowed Tommy Watson to fire in a 95th minute winner for Sunderland in the play-off final.

Nevertheless, his experience is one-of-a-kind, and Wrexham need someone like the 32-year-old to provide competition to Sam Smith.

Parkinson has now spoken out about that interest. He said (via: BBC Sport): “Kieffer’s under contract at Sheffield United. He’s one of a number of players we’ve looked at over the summer.

“Like I said, the landscape changes in the transfer market very quickly from one week to the next. We’re looking at lots of options here and abroad.”

The Red Dragons are going all out for Kieffer Moore

It’s been clear throughout this summer that Wrexham have needed more work on their squad following three successive promotions, and getting players who have been in the Championship for a number of years is exactly what they must do.

However, this does come at a cost. Alan Nixon has reported that the Red Dragons are planning to give the striker an even higher wage than the one that he is currently on at Sheffield United.

He has stated that the former Cardiff City man is earning £30,000-a-week at Bramall Lane, but the Welsh side are happy to hand the striker more than that.

A fee of around £4m is also expected to be paid by Wrexham, and this would be a very expensive signing for a club that has only just won promotion from League One.
