Birmingham City are heading towards a thrilling summer transfer window after winning promotion to the Championship.
Birmingham cantered to the League One title with the highest points tally in EFL history, and now they’re looking to achieve back-to-back promotions.
Although it’s only May, Birmingham have already made their first signing, with Phil Neumann signing a pre-contract agreement with the club back in January.
Birmingham also want to sign £10m-rated Kwame Poku from Peterborough United, with the Blues targeting five new positions in the transfer window.
That includes signing another centre-back, as they aim to capture Ben Davies permanently from Rangers after his stellar campaign in the third tier.

Ben Davies is open to joining Birmingham City permanently
In the 2024 summer window, Chris Davies signed the former Liverpool ace on loan from Rangers for the season, and he soon became a hero in the heart of their defence.
Davies formed an outstanding partnership with Christoph Klarer, making 44 appearances in all competitions and turning the Blues into one of the meanest defences in the division.
Birmingham want to capture the 29-year-old permanently from the Scottish giants as they attempt to rekindle their formidable duo.
However, the major stumbling block in completing a transfer for him is dependent on who Rangers acquire as their new manager, and whether they see Davies as a part of their plans.
Luckily for Birmingham, when asked about potentially returning to St Andrews in the summer, he would be open to joining the Midlands outfit permanently.
“I came on loan to play a lot of games and hopefully help Birmingham back up and have a good season,” Davies said via the Daily Record back in March.
“I’m happy with how it’s going here but I’ll think about that and consider all my options in the summer.
“I’m going to work here till the summer then see what my agent says. I’m really enjoying it here so if the opportunity arose I’d consider it seriously.”
Davies would be a key signing for Birmingham
Davies was a colossal figure in the centre of their defence in the third tier, and stepping up to the Championship won’t be an issue for the Englishman.
He’s a brilliant operator with the ball at his feet, capable of spraying passes into midfield while managing himself physically against some challenging forwards.
The former Sheffield United ace is also experienced in the second tier, having made 151 appearances in the competition for the Blades and Preston North End.
Should they capture Davies permanently this summer, Birmingham would arguably have the centre of their defence sorted, with an onus on then signing players for other positions.
