Birmingham City have had a strong transfer window, but Chris Davies will be keen to add to his squad in the final week before deadline day.
Blues made it two wins from their opening three games on Saturday afternoon, as they found a way past a resilient, but otherwise underwhelming Oxford United side at St. Andrew’s.
Paik Seung-ho scored the only goal of the game in the 40th minute to hand his side all three points, a week on from their first victory since returning to the Championship following their record-breaking League One promotion in 2024/25.
Relegation to the third tier in May 2024 was tough to take for Birmingham, and it did cost them a key player in the form of Jordan James, and now he is set to return to the Championship.

Wrexham line up deal for former Birmingham City midfielder Jordan James
The midfielder joined French outfit Stade Rennais for a fee that BBC Sport reported to be £4m, signing a four-year deal with the club.

However, just 12 months later, he looks as though he is heading back to the EFL, with Wrexham making a move to sign the 21-year-old, a club whom Birmingham have a lot of recent history with.
That’s according to Anthony Joseph, who has stated that the Welsh international is a target for Phil Parkinson, with the central midfield position an area in which the Red Dragons are keen to improve.
It comes with Wrexham reportedly set to make a £7.5m bid for Southampton ace Will Smallbone, amid a difficult start to the season for the Welsh club.

Chris Davies never got to see the best of Jordan James
James made 42 appearances for Birmingham in the 2023/24 Championship campaign, scoring eight goals from the middle of the park.
He was one of very few bright sparks for Blues during their relegation season, and it was not a surprise to see several clubs target him in last summer’s transfer window.

However, for Birmingham boss Chris Davies, he was pleased with the professionalism that the young star had during the saga and it is something that will also be of interest to Wrexham.
Davies said in August 2024 (via: BBC Sport): “He’s shown a brilliant attitude. Every day JJ has worked hard and there has been no difference in him to all the other players.
“That is testament to him as there has been a lot of noise and speculation around him. I spoke about this with him right from day one. But, for such a young man, to deal with it all with the composure he has I’ve been really impressed.”
