Wrexham host QPR this weekend, in a first second tier meeting between the sides since the 2003/04 Championship season.

Wrexham and QPR face each other in a post-international break Championship clash on Saturday in a rare meeting between the two sides.

Both sides sit on four points after their opening four clashes of the second tier season, both winning once, drawing once and being on the losing end twice.

Wrexham’s “off the charts” summer spending has added some serious strength in depth for Phil Parkinson as the adored Dragons boss ambitiously aims for a top-six finish.

Although their spending was not as high as Saturday’s opponents, QPR enjoyed a stellar summer window, setting this weekend’s clash up to exhibit some exceptional quality.

Wrexham have not beaten QPR at home in Championship since 2001

Wrexham and QPR go head-to-head this weekend in a rare Championship clash between the two sides following the Dragons’ rise up the leagues.

Despite their substantial financial backing, Wrexham have been predicted to be relegated this season, and Parkinson will be keen to get a winning run going after the international break.

Unfortunately for Parkinson, history is not on Wrexham’s side against the R’s, especially on home soil.

Last four results between Wrexham and QPR ahead of Saturday’s clash:

Wrexham’s most recent victory against QPR came way back in 2001, with their last clash at the Racecourse ending in a 2-0 win for the R’s.

In the overall head-to-head record between the two sides, Wrexham have won five games and QPR have won nine games, with four stalemates along the way.

QPR showed improvement after horror shows vs Coventry City

Before the international break, Coventry City beat QPR 7-1 on a disastrous afternoon for Julien Stephan’s side.

The embarrassment spilled over at full-time as Rayan Kolli addressed the QPR fans after the Coventry hammering, and he was the first R’s man to do so despite being only 20 years old.

Following the heavy Sky Blues loss, QPR beat Charlton Athletic 3-1 courtesy of goals from Paul Smyth, substitute Koki Saito and marquee summer signing Richard Kone.

QPR won the race for Kone ahead of Leicester City and Swansea City with the £5m capture of the striker after his stunning 18-goal campaign at League One Wycombe Wanderers last term.

With two goals in three games for QPR, Kone has already proven to be a major coup for Stephan, and the Ivorian will fancy himself against the Wrexham backline, which has conceded almost two goals per game so far this term.
