Championship experts can’t agree on Bristol City vs Norwich City score prediction, ‘confidence’ will be key

The action from the Championship gets underway on Friday night, with Norwich City travelling to Bristol City looking to bounce back from an awful midweek result.

Bristol City go into the game buoyed by a hard-earned and dramatic draw against high-flying Sheffield United on Tuesday night, with a late goal grabbing a vital point in the pursuit of a play-off spot.

Blades boss Chris Wilder complimented Bristol City after the game, and Liam Manning will be hoping to build on that heading into the weekend.

Meanwhile, in one of the biggest talking points in the Championship this week, Norwich suffered a stunning collapse against Sheffield Wednesday, going from 2-0 up at half-time to lose 3-2 in the end.

The result puts pressure on Johannes Hoff Thorup and leaves the Canaries all-but out of the hunt for a play-off place.

Experts disagree on Bristol City vs Norwich City score prediction

Discussing the upcoming fixtures in the second tier, Benjamin Bloom and Sam Parkin shared their Bristol City vs Norwich City score prediction on the Championship Check-In podcast, and it stirred some fascinating debate.

Parkin backed the home side, saying: “I saw Bristol City this week, but I didn’t see Norwich’s collapse. The confidence that Bristol City should take from the draw against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, I’ll go for a home win here.

“They’ve been excellent at Ashton Gate. Norwich are good for a goal, I’ll go for 2-1 to Bristol City.”

Meanwhile, Bloom had initially wanted the same prediction, but decided to put faith in Norwich’s attacking talent, backing star striker Josh Sargent to help the Canaries get back on track and take a point home with them.

Bloom said: “We always give Norwich a goal, with Sargent and Sainz and Crnac sticking them in. With that being said, I don’t think Bristol City are massively prolific so I’ll avoid your prediction and go for a draw.

“I would’ve taken the 2-1 as I liked what I saw from City and I respect your co-comms view that they’re a good side. But, I can’t see them shutting Norwich out, I’ll go for 1-1.”

Bristol City can kick Norwich while they’re down

It’s safe to say Norwich will be absolutely reeling from that defeat in midweek. They outplayed Sheffield Wednesday in the first half, but completely crumbled in the second, and that kind of downfall can be incredibly damaging to the mentality of the team.

Norwich keep dropping points, and it’s becoming a really big issue that could cost Thorup his job at Carrow Road.

He needs his players to react and fight for him now, but it’s just as likely that the heads will go down and Bristol City will be more than ready to pounce on any vulnerability shown on the night.

Bristol City are dark horses for promotion now, and a win here would seriously boost their chances. With that in mind, it’s hard to look past a home win here to compound Norwich’s misery.
