Birmingham City suffered only their third home defeat ever under Chris Davies when they were eliminated from the Carabao Cup by Port Vale.
It was a disappointing result for the Blues, as it was another year they had been eliminated from the Carabao Cup before the third round, with the last time they progressed to this point in the competition coming over 10 years ago.
Birmingham City were much changed for the fixture, as 10 changes were made to the squad that had beaten Oxford United in the Championship at the weekend, and this proved telling, as Port Vale now expect their victory to be on the next season of the Blues’ docuseries.
One of those changes was Marc Leonard, who was named captain for the game with Port Vale, has made his opinion clear on where his future lies after the game.
Jay Stansfield is a concern for Birmingham City
Elimination appears to not be the only negative from the fixture with Port Vale in the Carabao Cup, as it appears they may be without Jay Stansfield for the Championship fixture on Friday night with Leicester City.
Stansfield has been the star for Birmingham City in their rise through the divisions under their new ownership, and a lengthy injury would be a concern to the club and its fans.
It has been reported by Alex Dicken that Stansfield has been spotted on crutches around the Birmingham City training ground today after a late challenge on him in the Carabao Cup game against Port Vale.
The whack to the ankle has now made him a doubt for the Leicester City match.
