Reports emerged on Wednesday that Leeds United could sack Daniel Farke, who won them promotion to the Premier League just days before, and the Elland Road faithful are divided about the revelation.

Burnley’s 2-1 win over Sheffield United saw the Clarets and Leeds United promoted back to the Premier League promised land.

Daniel Farke’s side beat Stoke City 6-0 on Monday to send the Whites’ fanbase into ‘dreamland’ after securing promotion in a record-breaking season for the Elland Road outfit.

Farke became the ninth manager to gain promotion with Leeds and in a remarkable turn of events, with the Whites preparing for life back in the top flight, the German’s position has been thrust into doubt.

Amid reports breaking that Leeds are considering replacing Farke ahead of their Premier League return, the supporters have been split down the middle over the news.

Leeds United fans react to club considering replacing Daniel Farke

Leeds have been in champion contending form throughout the campaign, with Farke’s squad in touching distance of the historic Championship 100-points tally.

Leeds could become one of the best second tier teams ever if they mirror their seasons overall success within their final two league fixtures against Bristol City and Plymouth Argyle.

Daily Mirror reporter Mike Keegan posted on X on Wednesday: “Leeds United considering replacing Daniel Farke. No final decision but other candidates being looked at – despite promotion.”

News of Farke’s potential replacement took social media by storm and it has certainly split opinion in West Yorkshire with Leeds fighting for the Championship title riches.

One Leeds fan warned: “Bold bold bold. Got to be so careful with this.”, as another argued: “Needs to happen for us to have any chance finishing outside bottom 3.”

Another Leeds supporter said: “Totally would be a poor call in my opinion… he’s never got a chance or been backed in the prem and has got us 90+ points on both seasons.”

Also in support of Farke, another added: “I don’t agree with this one bit. He has built this team and deserves his chance at prem level with a club that will financially back him.”

On the contrary, another argued: “Harsh but the right call I think. Love Farke but relegated twice from the premier league is not what we need.”

Another said: “This is the right thing to do also. We need to give ourselves the best chance. There is no sentiment in football.”

Daniel Farke’s worrying record as a Premier League manager

With Farke’s future called into question, with his record as a manager in the Premier League the main reasoning behind Leeds’ consideration of replacing Farke.

The 48-year-old was Norwich City boss for their 2019/20 Premier League campaign, after taking them up as Championship champions the season prior, but failed to guide the Canaries to safety. Norwich were relegated at the foot of the Premier League, finishing 20th on 21 points and 14 points from safety.

In the following season, Farke earned promotion with Norwich as second tier title-winners once more, but would last only 11 games back in the Premier League dugouts before being replaced by Dean Smith. Farke lost his 15th consecutive Premier League game at Norwich and set a new low for a head coach in English top-flight history.
