New Hull City signing, Oli McBurnie’s likelihood of starting their Championship opener vs Coventry City has been revealed.
Hull City have signed Oli McBurnie after he left La Liga outfit Las Palmas this summer.
McBurnie had interest from former clubs Sheffield United and Swansea City, whilst Ipswich Town were also reportedly keen to sign the Scotsman, but the Tigers managed to sign the forward after offering a lucrative contract to the striker.
The former Sheffield United ace will reconnect with ex-Blades aces John Egan and John Lundstram at the MKM Stadium for a Hull City side who have recruited brilliantly in testing conditions.
After the signing of McBurnie, the likelihood of him being thrown into the first team in the season opener against Coventry City has been revealed.

The chances of Oli McBurnie starting for Hull City vs Coventry City
Hull City’s striker options are rather light at this stage of the summer, with Tigers boss Sergej Jakirovic having new signing Enis Destan and Kyle Joseph to choose between.
Now, Oli McBurnie has been added to the pool of forwards, whilst Hull City are keen to secure a return for Joe Gelhardt from Leeds United.
With the Championship quality and experience that McBurnie possesses, it is expected that he can play a crucial role this season, but he is expected to be eased into proceedings.
As reported by Hull Daily Mail, it is expected that the season opener against Frank Lampard’s Coventry City will see McBurnie start on the bench, whilst Destan or Joseph will lead the line from the start, although it can be assumed that the Scotsman will be introduced for his debut in the second half at the CBS Arena.

Sergej Jakirovic will be keen for further striker recruitment
Hull City are currently prohibited from making signings involving fees, although a hearing has taken place that will potentially see the Tigers’ sanctions potentially removed or relaxed to an extent.
Until then, there still needs to be plenty of work done in the transfer window, particularly in the striker department.
In the current circumstances, Hull City chief Acun Ilicali and Head of Recruitment Jared Dublin have done well to bolster the squad, and hopefully Joe Gelhardt can be snapped up in a timely fashion.
Goalscoring was Hull City’s main concern last season, having finished as the Championship’s lowest goalscorers. Hopefully, this summer’s wave of recruitment will turn the Tigers’ fortunes around.
