Since arriving at Loftus Road this summer, the Ivorian international has been in outstanding form, with Championship royalty now on the line.

In the summer window, EFL Analysis exclusively revealed that QPR won the £5m transfer race for Richard Kone ahead of Leicester City and Swansea City.

QPR fans were buzzing at Kone’s signing, and rightly so given that the young striker scored 18 goals in 43 League outings for Wycombe Wanderers last season.

Kone has started stunningly for QPR, with three goals in his first four outings for Julien Stephan’s side, who sit 12th in the table.

QPR host Stoke City on Saturday afternoon, and Kone will be desperate to continue his hot streak and etch his name in Championship folklore forever.

Richard Kone can join exclusive Championship club vs Stoke City

The prolific nature of Kone this season is highlighted by the fact that the Ivorian has only needed three shots on target to net three goals in his start at QPR.

Kone gave Wrexham skipper Conor Coady a torrid time last time out, with his movement getting the better of the veteran defender before rifling a strike into the roof of the Dragons’ net.

Buoyed by his three-game scoring streak, Kone will fancy his chances against Stoke on Saturday, as he looks to join an exclusive Championship goalscorers club.

As pointed out by BBC Sport, QPR striker Kone has scored three goals in three of his first four Championship appearances, netting in his last three in a row after failing to score in his R’s debut off the bench against Watford.

Since the 2004/05 second tier season, only six players have netted in as many as four of their first five Championship appearances.

Those players include: Rob Hulse (2005), Diomansy Kamara (2006), Igor Vetokele (2014), Lyle Taylor (2019), Borja Bastón (2019) and Ryan Hardie (2023).

Additionally, Kone became the first QPR player to score three or more goals in his four outings for the R’s since Djibril Cisse did in 2012, and the Ivorian could go on to be just as prolific as the former Liverpool striker if his light-speed development continues.

Stoke City’s defence will be difficult for Richard Kone to beat

Stoke have been one of the surprise packages of the Championship season so far, with Mark Robins guiding the Potters to second after the first five games.

Robins’ side have won four and lost once in the opening exchanges, enjoying a 1-0 win at big summer spenders Birmingham City last time out.

Stoke possess the joint-best defensive record in the Championship so far this season under Robins, with just three goals conceded thus far.

Only table-toppers Middlesbrough and plucky Portsmouth have conceded the same small amount.

Kone could scupper Stoke’s unbelievable start to the season, and the dinner-time fixture is poised to be an entertaining one as the Ivorian looks for his historic strike against Robins’ resolute backline.
