Richard Kone is officially a QPR player.

The R’s agreed a deal with Wycombe Wanderers on Monday afternoon, and after a medical was completed, the striker will now play his football at Loftus Road.

A fee of £5m has been worked between the two clubs, with the Chairboys lowering their initial asking price to £3m as Leicester City and Swansea City also circled.

Nevertheless, it was QPR who won the battle, and their supporters have taken to social media to welcome Kone to West London ahead of their trip to Watford on Saturday afternoon.

Kone is a very exciting signing, and QPR fans are keen to see their new forward in action, and have given him a warm welcome to Loftus Road.

Another R’s supporter wrote: “We just got stronger!”

While a third put: “Great signing. Welcome to the club. Now let’s see what you got!”

A fifth QPR fan said: “Great business!”

With one more excited to see what Kone will bring: “In the interview, he was asked what can the fans expect from you? He said, ‘Lots of goals’, lol. Love it.”

Richard Kone will want to hit the ground running

Mike Dodds left Kone out of the Wycombe squad on Tuesday evening as the move progressed, and now he will be hoping to get his first taste of Championship action.

He scored 18 times in League One last season for the Chairboys, and the 22-year-old looked destined for a move to the second tier this summer.

QPR are building a very exciting young team and Kone only adds to that. His quality will be vital in the final third with Kwame Poku and Karamoko Dembele providing crosses for him from out wide.

Confidence is key for the young striker, and if he can get off to a bright start, then the R’s may well be battling for a top six finish this season.
