Steve Bracknall tells Sam Allardyce to have ‘one last dance’ as the new Sheffield Wednesday manager

Sheffield Wednesday continue to be a bit of a mess off the field, and Steve Bracknall has come up with the best solution he has to offer.

With Dejphon Chansiri running things, Sheffield Wednesday have been plunged into chaos this summer. Missed payments have led to players leaving the club, terminating their contracts, and EFL punishments for the Owls.

On the pitch, things haven’t been all that bad. Henrik Pedersen has got the best out of his young Sheffield Wednesday team, and while they only have one point to their name, they’ve impressed many with their spirited displays.

However, there is hope for a better future. Chansiri may well be forced out of the club by the Independent Football Regulator, and if new owners are looking for a fresh approach in the dugout, they’ll know exactly where to look.

Steve Bracknall wants Big Sam to take over at Sheffield Wednesday

Steve Bracknall (AKA Chris McClure) is a renowned Owls fan, and he’s recently appeared on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast to have his say on the plight of his beloved club, and tried to persuade Sam Allardyce to take on the manager’s job at Hillsborough.

He said: “Let me be forthright and say I respect the man and what he’s done in the game. And by the sounds of it, he lets an assistant express themselves. I’d be very interested in working with Sam.

“Listen, the owner at Sheffield Wednesday is on borrowed time. I don’t know who’s going to take it over, but someone is going to come in and it’s going to need the ship steadying. Now, I couldn’t think of a better candidate.

“I know the club. I know the culture. We’ll bed you in, get you a nice bungalow, a semi, near the ground, and I’ll pick you up. I’ll ring Barry Bannan and he’ll say, ‘Yeah I’ll be the link between the players.’ We’ll have it on lockdown mate. You’ve got one last dance and it’s coming at Hillsborough, pal.”

Bracknall’s own CV may only include a long spell with Royal Oak FC, but Allardyce certainly has the credentials necessary to become Sheffield Wednesday manager if the opportunity ever arises. In fact, it’s quite a surprise he’s not been there and done that already.

Henrik Pedersen is doing a good job at Sheffield Wednesday, he just needs funding

Jokes aside, there can be no doubting that Henrik Pedersen and his threadbare Sheffield Wednesday squad are doing well this season.

The draw against Wrexham proved the Owls will not go down without a fight this season. Obviously, anything outside of relegation would be a miracle at this point, though.

It’s a shame deadline day was such a disaster for Wednesday, as with a few more additions they could well have been more competitive from here on out.

Hopefully Pedersen and his players can dig deep and drag the Owls out of trouble this season. If not, there’s always Big Sam!
