Blackburn Rovers have made a poor start to the Championship campaign, as they lost their third league match after their defeat to Norwich City at the weekend.

It means Blackburn Rovers made unwanted history as they lost opening consecutive home league games in the Championship for the first time in 69 years.

Rovers have been incredibly busy in the transfer market this summer, already having welcomed some fresh faces to Ewood Park, while there have been several high-profile departures.

Valerien Ismael appears to be shaping the squad to his liking and in doing so has bid farewell to Lewis Travis, as he joined Derby County, and Tyrhys Dolan, who departed for free to join Espanyol.

Blackburn were expected to be busy right up to the deadline at 7pm on September 1, and their manager has now outlined their plans for the final day of the summer transfer window.

‘It is not the plan’ for Blackburn Rovers to be busy

While Blackburn Rovers may look to add one or two new faces to the squad on deadline day, Valerien Ismael confirmed with the Lancashire Telegraph that the club are not expected to be busy, particularly in the loan market.

He said: “I don’t think so, but sometimes you never know.

“Across the table maybe some names come and some opportunities, but it’s not our plan at the minute. Sometimes in football, things happen and you have to decide, but at the minute, when I’m speaking to you, it’s not the plan.”

Meanwhile, he did confirm that Blackburn will not chase a goalkeeper after there were concerns around the injury suffered by Balazs Toth at the weekend.

He said: “No. At some point, we need to create a path for the young players as well. We have two young goalkeepers of different ages.

“One is a little bit further than the other, but the other we see clearly in the future. At some point, we need to give the chance. When I came in, it was what we spoke with the club as well, to create a pathway for the young players, to give the possibility.”

Blackburn Rovers encouraged in their hunt for Bailey Cadamarteri

It had been reported at the beginning of the weekend that Blackburn had been rebuffed in their attempts to strike a deal for the Sheffield Wednesday player, Bailey Cadamarteri.

Rovers have reportedly made a £1 million bid for the England youth international in a deal that would see him loaned back to Hillsborough for the remainder of the season, as the club look to take advantage of the perilous financial situation of the Owls.

Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen spoke to BBC Sheffield about the future of the exciting talent, unable to confirm what his future would be.

He said: “I cannot decide if somebody will be sold or not, but from my perspective it will be awful if we should sell some of our players.

“We do not have many players, and to start to sell, it would just make the situation more difficult. I hope and believe we can keep everyone.”
