Birmingham City won League One in 2024/25 and are now eyeing a place back in the Premier League.

Birmingham City set an EFL points record in the most recent campaign, notching 111 to win the third tier with ease.

With the season now over, attention has quickly turned toward the summer transfer window and preparing for life back in the Championship.

Birmingham are offering at least £30k-a-week to new signings as they look to build a very strong squad.

An aggressive summer transfer window is expected, and arrivals have already begun, with Phil Neumann signed to a pre-contract early this year.

Now, an insight into the club’s promotion hopes has been provided.

When Birmingham City think they’ll win Championship promotion

Birmingham have been backed to impress in the second tier by two EFL pundits already.

Elsewhere, Lee Hendrie has said that Championship promotion could be on the cards for the Blues in 2025/26.

Now, an insight into the club’s feelings on the matter has been provided by Spanish outlet Marca.

Their report claims Birmingham will have a big summer transfer window and that the club are confident of getting promoted in 2025/26 with Tom Brady at the helm.

They would be the second team in recent years to achieve such a feat, with Ipswich Town also going back-to-back to reach the Premier League from 2022/23 to 2023/24.

Ipswich have, of course, since been relegated from the top flight, but it was still an impressive achievement.

Last time Birmingham City were in the Premier League

Brady made a promise to Birmingham fans following the club’s relegation in 2023/24, which has since come to pass.

But it has been some time since the Midlands outfit were actually in the Premier League.

Birmingham last lined out in the top flight all the way back in the 2010/11 campaign.

The Blues finished that season in 18th place with 39 points to their name.

It was not all negative, though, as Birmingham did win the League Cup in 2011, beating Arsenal in the final.
