Why Norwich City chief is ‘delighted’ with Jeffrey Schlupp deal, he offers one key ‘quality’

This has been an extremely promising summer for Norwich City.

Although Borja Sainz has moved to Porto, Josh Sargent is going nowhere for the time being as Wolfsburg fail to match the Canaries’ asking price.

Mathias Kvistgaarden has got the seal of approval from supporters, and there is plenty of work still going on behind the scenes with Liam Manning having plenty to spend in this transfer window.

However, a move that may go under the radar is Norwich’s signing of Jeffrey Schlupp, but Ben Knapper has explained why he was signed by the Norfolk outfit.

Ben Knapper explains why Norwich City brought Jeffrey Schlupp to the club

At 32, Schlupp has been around the block and has an extremely high knowledge of English football having left Crystal Palace in the summer.

Signed as a free agent, Knapper has told fans why Norwich decided to make a move for the versatile player. He said (via: Canaries.co.uk): “Jeffrey’s career so far speaks for itself and we’re delighted to welcome him and his family to Norwich City.

“He is a player of immense experience having played at the highest levels both domestically and internationally for many years. His quality, versatility and character will all be great assets for us, and he will serve as a fantastic reference point for our younger players in particular this season.

“He will provide competition and depth across multiple positions, and we’re all really happy to have him as part of the group for the coming season.”

Jeffrey Schlupp can provide cover in all areas

Although players such as Kvistgaarden and potentially Pape Diallo, who looks to be on his way to Carrow Road, are a little bit more exciting than Schlupp, he can provide something different to the attacking pair.

The former Leicester City man can play in a variety of positions, from full-back and wing-back, to on the wing itself as well as in central midfield.

This will be vital for the Canaries if injuries ever stack up at any point and Manning will be extremely pleased to have captured the services of the ex-Premier League player.

Schlupp’s involvement in the team is hard to judge currently, but he has plenty of quality both on and off the ball, which means he could be one of the biggest coups of the summer.
