Wrexham have already been busy in the summer transfer window as the Red Dragons look to mount a top-six push in the upcoming Championship campaign.

After Wrexham made history with successive promotions, the ambitions of Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are clear ahead of the 2025/26 Championship.

The Red Dragons are intent on pushing for the top-six next term and have been looking to add quality reinforcements to Phil Parkinson’s squad within the summer transfer window.

Wrexham signed Ryan Hardie from Plymouth Argyle to become the club’s first permanent summer signing, and it is expected that several more will follow the 12-goal forward through the Racecourse doors.

With Reynolds targeting “dream” Premier League promotion, EFL Analysis has taken a look at what a dream summer transfer window could look like for Wrexham.

Wrexham sign Blackburn Rovers captain Lewis Travis

Wrexham have been linked with a move for Blackburn Rovers captain Lewis Travis this summer, and his signing would be another brilliant bit of business by the Red Dragons.

The Rovers captain has stalled on a new Blackburn deal, after it emerged that Wrexham were keen on Travis.

Former Blackburn Rovers boss Jon Dahl Tomasson has already informed Wrexham of the leadership qualities the 27-year-old possesses.

He told Rovers.co.uk of Travis in 2022: “He’s a great boy, he’s a warrior, a soldier who takes responsibility for the team.

“He’s a team player, and you always need that. He’s a battler, and that’s why I call him a soldier in that sense.”

Birmingham City are also keen on Travis, but the midfielder’s quality and experience would be a brilliant addition to Parkinson’s midfield ranks, sending a serious statement of intent to their Championship rivals ahead of next season.

Premier League quality must be signed by Wrexham

Given the need to add proven quality to the squad to make the step up from League One, Wrexham have been linked with a handful of Premier League free agents so far this summer, with Patrick Bamford a key name in the mix.

However, Bamford may well stay at Leeds United this season, but that should not stop the Red Dragons from chasing other top flight talents.

Wrexham are interested in Aaron Cresswell, following his West Ham release, with his experience at the elite level a huge pull for Parkinson and would fit Wrexham’s transfer policy after promotion.

Another Premier League quality signing for the Red Dragons could come in the shape of another longstanding summer target at Craven Cottage.

Wrexham finally sign Tom Cairney from Fulham

It emerged last month that Wrexham were plotting a shock move for Tom Cairney, after his contract expired at Fulham this summer.

Cairney’s current stance on Wrexham sees the inventive midfielder torn, after Wrexham made a substantial offer for his services.

More reinforcements in attack after Ryan Hardie signing

EFL expert Ali Maxwell believes Wrexham have made a “very smart” signing with Hardie, and adding a forward to the ranks who scored 12 goals in 40 Championship appearances last season will help share the goalscoring burden with Sam Smith.

However, goals win you games, and if Wrexham are intent on achieving a top-six spot then extra reinforcements to the attack are needed.

EFL Analysis exclusively revealed this week that both Birmingham and Wrexham are eyeing Joe Gelhardt after the Leeds United forward has been told he can depart Elland Road this summer.

Gelhardt spent last season on loan at Hull City and scored five goals since his mid-season arrival to help the Tigers avoid relegation.

His tenacity, versatility, and second tier experience would be vital for Wrexham next season and would complete a dream transfer window for the Welsh giants.
