Sheffield Wednesday are just a couple of weeks into their pre-season, and their situation continues to confuse many.
A business expert has slammed the Owls’ takeover process, while supporters are split after Danny Rohl returned to take training with the German previously telling players he will be leaving this summer.
It’s less than four weeks until the first Championship fixtures of the 2025/26 campaign, and Sheffield Wednesday are eyeing up their first signing, but they do have a squad that will be lacking morale ahead of the new season.
However, throughout this whole process there has been notable radio silence from one person, Dejphon Chansiri. At a time when clarity is needed more than ever, the Owls’ owner needs to heed his own advice from four years ago.

Dejphon Chansiri felt responsible when Sheffield Wednesday were relegated in 2021
In the 2020/21 campaign, Sheffield Wednesday started on the back foot. They were deducted 12 points for breaching Profit & Sustainability Rules for the three-season period ending in 2017/18, but this was later reduced to six.

Nevertheless, they headed into the final day needing a victory against Derby County to ensure survival, with the Rams also staring in the face of relegation.
In a topsy-turvy game, a 3-3 draw and a late Cardiff City equaliser against Rotherham United saw the Owls join the Millers and Wycombe Wanderers in League One for the next campaign.
Following the confirmation of relegation, Chansiri said (via: SWFC.co.uk): “As your owner and chairman, I take full responsibility for everything that happens at our club. I am the leader and in good times or bad, the responsibility for Sheffield Wednesday lies with me. I am sorry to you all that we have been relegated.”
Dejphon Chansiri needs to show that same responsibility now
While some players have now been paid, positive news has been difficult to find at Hillsborough for a number of months.
Chansiri must sell the club as soon as possible, but if relegation still comes at the end of the season, then responsibility will once again lie with him. However, he must take significant action to ensure that the Owls have a fighting chance in 2025/26.

The Owls have sold Anthony Musaba, while Djeidi Gassama is joining Rangers and further pain could be on the way with Leicester City targeting Max Lowe.
But an end to this saga has to be in sight soon, and Chansiri must work round the clock so that happens.
