Sheffield Wednesday star was once compared to Champions League winner amid ‘intelligent’ praise

Owls supporters will be optimistic after hearing what one former Premier League player said about a Sheffield Wednesday star, who has drawn comparisons to a Real Madrid Champions League winner.

Sheffield Wednesday have suffered in recent months as Dejphon Chansiri’s reign as owner drags on.

After a summer of poor decision-making and communication, Sheffield Wednesday’s squad has been ripped to its bare bones, with many prominent players moving on from S6.

Henrik Pedersen has been tasked with steering the ship to safety, but it appears to be a huge challenge for the Dane, who has had his Sheffield Wednesday squad decimated under the stewardship of Chansiri.

The small silver lining of recent weeks has seen Sheffield Wednesday sign Harry Amass on loan from Man United, after the Red Devils covered all costs to send him to Hillsborough.

There is plenty of promise around the youngster, and Sheffield Wednesday fans will be particularly keen to see more from him after the brilliant praise he was handed by one former Premier League player.

Sheffield Wednesday loanee Harry Amass was once compared to Champions League winner Theo Hernandez

Sheffield Wednesday signing Harry Amass is set to play a crucial role for the Owls, having provided necessary cover at left-back, where Olaf Kobacki was shifted to before.

The Owls star has made an impression in his career so far, having shone for both Man United and Watford’s academy, while also notching first-team experience with the Red Devils.

During his time at Watford, coach and former Premier League star Charlie Daniels was full of praise for the left-back.

When discussing the talents of Amass, who now finds himself in S6 for the 2025/26 season, Daniels said, via Manchester Evening News: “He is a bit like Theo Hernandez, I would say. He is very, very attacking, he has a good left foot, is intelligent, will work hard for the team, and likes to get forward.

“If I am looking at left-backs nowadays, he probably suits him. As you saw in pre-season, he has got all the attributes to become a top, top left-back.”

Harry Amass’ experience could be crucial to Sheffield Wednesday

In what is a Sheffield Wednesday side that has had the gaps plugged by youngsters with very little experience, Harry Amass could prove to be a leader in the dressing room, even at the age of 18.

The bulk of Amass’s experience comes in the form of first-team minutes with Man United, where he has played 375 minutes in total during the 2024/25 campaign.

He is a prized player in the Red Devils’ academy, which is why Ruben Amorim turned towards him in the latter stages of the season.

Unfortunately, all four of Amass’ starts for Man United in the Premier League ended in defeat as the Red Devils endured huge difficulties, before finishing in a lowly 16th.

Because of the praise he has received, Sheffield Wednesday fans have every reason to be optimistic with his arrival, at a time where there is very little to celebrate at the club.
