Anyone else missing the Championship already?

Yeah, we are too and although it’s only a couple of weeks until the fixtures come out, it still feels like it’s a million miles away.

Fear not though, now that all 24 Championship clubs are confirmed for next season, work is being done by each and every one of them to assemble the squad capable of earning promotion to the Premier League.

Some are more prepared than others as Leicester City missed out on Russell Martin whereas Ryan Mason’s appointment as West Brom manager means the Baggies can get to work.

So what’s going on in the rest of the Championship? Here’s EFL Analysis’ latest transfer roundup.

Norwich after goalkeeper who helped to beat Chelsea

Now that Angus Gunn has departed Norwich City on a free transfer, incoming manager Liam Manning will need a new number one.

Daniel Grimshaw is wanted by Norwich and the Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper could be on the move, but new reports have linked the Canaries with Vladan Kovacevic.

The Bosnian international has spent the season on loan at Legia Warsaw from Sporting in Portugal and started in their Conference League win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Kovacevic knows Norwich forward Ante Crnac well from their time at Rakow Czestochowa, where they won the Polish top flight together, and he could convince him to come to Carrow Road.

Josh Sargent wanted by Italian giants

Sticking with Norwich and supporters will be resigned to losing Josh Sargent this summer.

The USMNT international has been prolific in front of goal for a number of years and has plenty of suitors.

Roma seem to be interested in Sargent and the chance to play at one of Italy’s most prestigious clubs could be too hard to turn down.

Any deal would almost certainly see Roma part with a sizeable fee to land Sargent’s signature, but if he continues his goal scoring spree, there’s no reason why he can’t go on to conquer Rome.

Blackburn set to land £1m windfall for in-demand star

Blackburn Rovers have reminded our other 23 clubs that even if you sell a young asset early doors, you can still profit from their success in the future.

Igor Tyjon could head to Arsenal this summer as the Gunners and other big names such as Manchester United keep tabs on the 17-year-old.

Tyjon is highly rated at Ewood Park and has made two senior appearances, both coming in the 24/25 season.

Arsenal would apparently be willing to pay over £1m and the variety of interest could spark a welcome bidding war.

QPR star subject of bid from Spain

To round off this latest roundup we’re heading to West London, where Queens Park Rangers may face a battle to keep hold of one of their better players.

Jonathan Varane is the subject of a bid from Espanyol that is believed to be worth more than £5m.

A deal like that would see QPR make significant profit on the winger, who Marti Cifuentes was a big fan of before he left the R’s.
