How likely Paul Warne is to add to his MK Dons squad before transfer deadline day

With the transfer window still open, EFL Analysis has exclusive insight into just how busy MK Dons might be from now until the end of the month.

Of all the teams in League Two, none have done more business this summer than MK Dons, and they’re now hotly fancied to be the title winners come the end of the season.

With the likes of Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Aaron Collins, and Callum Paterson making the drop down to the fourth tier, it’s clear Paul Warne is putting together the kind of team that could and should be getting promoted at the very least.

They’ve been quieter of late, but with three weeks to go until deadline day, EFL Analysis can exclusively reveal how Warne and co. feel about dipping into the market again.

MK Dons could make more signings

Thanks to information from our Chief Football Correspondent Graeme Bailey, we are told that MK Dons could be tempted to make more signings, especially in light of their 0-0 draw with Oldham Athletic on the opening day of the season.

Bailey said: “They’re not happy with that first performance, that’s for sure. I think that, from what I can garner, they’re open to options in the market, but they’re very happy with the business they’ve done thus far.

“I don’t think they’re desperate for anything. Obviously Aaron Collins didn’t play the weekend. But again let’s see what the next few weeks brings. They’re ones who could change their minds if results don’t go their way.

With seven signings already through the door, all of a high quality, it remains to be seen whether MK Dons really need to do any more business. But, given the investment already, the club’s hierarchy cannot afford to miss out on promotion and may see the gamble of further transfers as worthwhile.

Big changes at MK Dons, but success is a must

According to Callum Hendry, Warne has made things ‘dramatically different’ at MK Dons, in a good way. There’s a new culture around the club, and Warne has taken the squad to a new level.

You’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who hasn’t tipped MK Dons for promotion this season, and make no mistake, anything less than a top-three finish will be deemed a failure.

One player they could still look at is Steven Fletcher, though, and he would be the kind of signing that would surely get them over the line. Fletcher has options in Scotland as well as MK Dons, but is still a free agent after being released by Wrexham.
