Hull City continue to prepare for the Championship season with a winger set to join up with Sergej Jakirovic’s side.
The 2025/26 Championship season is less than a fortnight away from kick-off, and Hull City will be hoping to tie up deals in advance.
Hull City were hit with a transfer fee restriction this summer, and whilst Acun Ilicali remains confident that the punishment can be relaxed, the Tigers continue to roam in the free transfer market.
Sergej Jakirovic has spoken about Hull City’s next three signings, with it looking like former Sheffield Wednesday defender Akin Famewo will join alongside John Lundstram and Turkish forward Enis Destan.
In addition, it looks like Hull City are set to add a fourth signing to the mix, with one 29-year-old free agent set to sign a two-year contract with the Tigers.

Hull City reach agreement with free agent winger David Akintola
As Acun Ilicali continues to solve Hull City’s attacking woes from the 2024/25 Championship season, he has turned to free agent forward David Akintola as the answer.
As reported by reputable Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, Hull City have reached an agreement to sign Akintola on a two-year deal.
The player reportedly turned down the chance to play for Super Lig outfit Gençlerbirliği after favouring a move to the MKM Stadium.
The 29-year-old journeyman Nigerian has endured spells at eight different clubs, predominantly in Turkey and Scandinavia.
What David Akintola will bring to Sergej Jakirovic’s side
There is plenty of excitement that comes with the likely arrival of David Akintola and that is due to the goal threat that he possesses.
Akintola is a tricky winger with pace to burn and an eye for goal. Whilst he does often play out on the wing, he has poacher-like instincts that show him to be very confident with the ball inside the box.
His time in the Super Lig has been rather successful, having notched a total of 20 goals and 18 assists in 147 appearances – a respectable record in Turkey’s top flight.
As a free agent, there is very little risk with the signing of Akintola and there will be hope that he can offer excitement in front of goal, something that Hull City certainly lacked last season.
