Hull City’s feelings on former Man United defender made clear ahead of transfer decision

Hull City are having to work differently in the transfer market this season.

The Tigers have been hit with a three-window transfer ban which restricts them from signing a player when there is a fee involved.

John Lundstram is the latest arrival at Hull while former Sheffield Wednesday defender Akin Famewo has moved to the MKM Stadium too.

Sergei Jakirovic is hoping Oli McBurnie will also sign as he looks to utilise the free agent market to bolster his squad.

One of those options has been on trial in pre-season and after playing two games, has found out if he’s done enough to earn a contract.

Hull City to offer Brandon Williams a contract after impressive trial

Brandon Williams has been on trial at Hull after making a return to professional football.

His last competitive appearance came during a loan spell with Ipswich Town in 2023 and a number of off-field issues have seen his career stagnate.

The former Manchester United youngster has played for Hull in their last two friendlies and according to Hull Live, has impressed enough to earn himself a contract.

Talks are still being held between the two but there is hope he’ll be signed in time for the season opener against Coventry City.

Hull City will need to be patient with Brandon Williams

No competitive football in two years means that Williams is going to take time to get up to speed.

Of course, when Hull are one of the favourites to be relegated, players need to bed in quickly.

Williams is a talented player though and while his technical ability won’t be a problem, the physical endurance will take time to readjust to.

Championship football is a long, gruelling season and even though it may take time to be at his very best, Williams will prove to be a valuable addition in the long term.
