Just 24 months ago, Luton Town were getting ready for their first ever Premier League campaign.
Two years later and back-to-back relegations for the Hatters means that they are now getting ready for life back in League One for the first time since they were promoted to the Championship in 2018/19.
Carlton Morris is now set for a medical at Derby County and new strikers are going to be needed in the third tier, just under two months after Matt Bloomfield slammed into his team following their 5-3 defeat to West Bromwich Albion on the final day of the season.
However, Luton’s stance on one key player has now been revealed, and it’s fantastic news for the Bedfordshire outfit.
Luton Town are likely to keep hold of Thelo Aasgaard
The future of Thelo Aasgaard at the Hatters has been heavily debated, with his Norway manager wanting him to move to a club in the Championship following relegation.

Aasgaard himself has cast doubts over his position at Luton, but Chief Football Correspondent, Graeme Bailey, has exclusively told EFL Analysis that Bloomfield is keen to see the attacking midfielder stay at Kenilworth Road.
He said: “Aasgaard might well have taken a hit on wages, because it’s likely they put a relegation wage drop clause in there when he signed, as Luton knew they were in trouble.
“He’s a very good player. They paid good money for him. I’d be very surprised if he was allowed to leave. From what I’m hearing, he’s seen as a major player for them. Obviously, every player has a price, but I don’t think he’ll get out this summer, to be honest. He’s too important to them.”

Thelo Aasgaard staying is a huge boost to the Hatters’ promotion chances
If Luton are to be promoted back to the Championship at the first attempt, then the likes of Aasgaard must be kept, as he will be a vital player next season.
The Hatters spent a reported £3m on the attacking midfielder, and while he may take a pay cut, it is clear that he is a key member of their team and at just 23, the potential that he has to develop will be a huge draw for Bloomfield.
However, as stated by Graeme, the uncertainty of the transfer window will still be a worry for Luton and there will be a figure that may just be too much to turn down.
