Ryan Mason’s first transfer window at West Brom, and as a manager, is poised to be a busy summer at the Hawthorns.
Ryan Mason has been appointed by West Brom this summer, in his first permanent role as a manager, after leaving Spurs in the wake of their Europa League final win against Manchester United.
At 33, Mason becomes one of the EFL’s youngest head coaches to date, in a season poised to be the best Championship campaign yet.
Mason replaces Tony Mowbray at the Hawthorns, after the EFL veteran oversaw the club missing out on play-off places, and drifting to a disappointing ninth-placed finish in the 24/25 Championship table.
Work has begun for the former Spurs midfielder, as Mason has already recruited two new coaches with whom he previously worked at Tottenham.
Now, EFL Analysis can shed some light on West Brom’s approach in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Ryan Mason’s priorities at West Brom in summer transfer window
Right-winger Tom Fellows was the shining light in West Brom’s 24/25 campaign, enjoying his best season on record, by notching four goals and 14 assists in 45 second tier appearances.
Reports emerged in January that Fellows was close to joining Everton, but those never materialised at the time and he remained at his boyhood club, but couldn’t inspire a top-six finish.
West Brom expect Fellows to leave this summer, therefore, his potential replacement is the major priority on Mason’s summer to-do list, and the newly-appointed Baggies boss could utilise his Spurs connection to concoct a summer loan swoop this summer.
EFL Analysis’ Chief Football correspondent Graeme Bailey exclusively revealed: “I think a big one would be the likely replacement of Fellows for them.
“I think we will see him go back to Spurs and have a little look what’s there.
“Obviously, they had Will Lankshear there as well. So, there’s a relationship there between the two clubs already. I think we’ll see at least one Spurs player go to West Brom during this summer.”
Spurs supporters know Mason likes to develop young talents, and that could continue.
Bailey added: “He knows them better than anyone. So he’ll know the players he wants. He’s got a bit of an advantage already.
“As for staff, I think he’ll assess things as it goes. I think he will want to do his own thing. I don’t think it’s done and dusted yet there.”
The plus side to any potential Fellows deal is that there could be increased funds to bolster Mason’s squad, and with the head coach’s connections with Spurs, that could be pivotal in the window with a handful of attacking youngsters potentially available on loan from Tottenham this term.

Three potential Spurs loanees Ryan Mason could sign for West Brom
There are plenty of Spurs players Mason will want to bring with him to the Hawthorns, and there are options in the forward ranks to potentially replace Fellows, if he does depart.
Former Burnley ace Wilson Odobert arrived to Spurs from the Clarets last year, but managed only nine starts and 849 Premier League minutes in his debut Spurs season.
Min-Hyeok Yang returns to Spurs following his loan spell at QPR, in which the 19-year-old winger scored twice in 14 Championship appearances.
| Key statistic | Min-Hyeok Yang (on loan at QPR) | Wilson Odobert | Mikey Moore |
| Games played | 14 | 21 | 19 |
| Goals | 2 | 3 | 1 |
| Assists | 1 | 0 | 2 |
Mikey Moore is another Spurs starlet that Mason could tempt for a loan season at the Baggies, with the 17-year-old needing more gametime for his development, after completing just 361 minutes of top flight this season.
If Ange Postecoglou is willing to let either of those three depart on loan this summer, West Brom should be desperate to snap them up, and equip Mason with extra firepower for his debut campaign in senior management.
