It’s been a busy and, on the whole, rather negative summer for the Blades. Here, we run down all the Sheffield United transfers from the last few months, both in and out, with a little mention of the managerial saga there, too.
After missing out on promotion last season, the Sheffield United board ended up parting ways with club icon Chris Wilder. In came Ruben Selles, and a summer of transformation began.
The COH Sports group cannot be accused of not backing their new manager, with plenty of new faces coming through the door and a fair amount of money spent.
However, after a dismal start to the season, the board sacked Selles after being ‘staggered’ by the team’s performances. Will the hierarchy live to regret some of the Sheffield United transfers they sanctioned, too?

Confirmed Sheffield United transfers
Sheffield United’s first signing of the summer was rather underwhelming, with Ehije Ukaki arriving from Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv.
That’s the same club United poached Christian Nwachukwu from in January, and is another example of the Blades using an AI-driven data model to identify suitable targets.
The Blades did make more high-profile signings as the window went on, though. Japhet Tanganga signed from Millwall to bolster the backline. They also signed Mark McGuinness from Luton Town on deadline day, while Ben Mee chose Sheffield United as his new club.
The likes of Ben Godfrey, Tyler Bindon, and Louie Barry joined on loan. Chiedozie Ogbene also moved to Sheffield United from Championship rivals Ipswich Town.
Elsewhere, Danny Ings signed a one-year deal with the Blades after leaving West Ham as a free agent.
Confirmed Sheffield United transfers:

Overall, Sheffield United signed 14 new players this summer. It’s hard to pin down how much the Blades spent this summer in relation to their rivals in the league, though, with undisclosed fees clouding the true figure.

All Sheffield United outgoings
Four members of the Blades’ development squad have been released, with Harry Boyes, Ethan Cummings, Mekhi Haughton-Parris, and Henry Molyneux all departing.
United ended up losing five prominent figures in their first-team, too. Vini Souza signed for Wolfsburg for around £13m and Anel Ahmedhodzic is now flying for Feyenoord after signing for around £6m.
Sheffield United probably regret letting Kieffer Moore join Wrexham for £2m after the Welshman made a good start to the season. Meanwhile, Rhian Brewster went to Derby County for free, and Jack Robinson’s move to Birmingham marked the end of an era for the Blades.
Every Sheffield United departure this summer:
- Vini Souza (£13m to Wolfsburg)
- Anel Ahmedhodzic (£6m to Feyenoord)
- Kieffer Moore (£2m to Wrexham)
- Rhian Brewster (free to Derby County)
- Jack Robinson (£150,000 to Birmingham City)
- Jefferson Caceres (Unknown fee, to Dunfermline)
- Rhys Norrington-Davies (loan, to QPR)
- Ivo Grbic (loan to Karagümrük)
All in, Sheffield United received at least £21m in transfer fees this summer. However, if and when Chris Wilder returns, he may be gutted to see the likes of Souza and Ahmedhodzic missing.
