Hull City have experienced a summer of turmoil thanks to financial errors made by Acun Ilicali, but there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel.
Hull are currently under a transfer embargo imposed by the EFL, which has restricted them from signing players involving a transfer fee.
While Sheffield Wednesday are also under an embargo, the Tigers are planning accordingly for the new season, and on Tuesday, two new players arrived at the MKM Stadium.
Akin Famewo was signed on a free transfer from Sheffield Wednesday, while promising winger Joel Ndala joined on a season-long loan from Manchester City.
Ndala made his debut from the bench for the final 20 minutes as Hull produced a brilliant 2-1 victory over Sunderland in a pre-season friendly, and now, supporters have been hit with more good news.

Hull City set to sign John Lundstram and Enis Destan as EFL ease restrictions
The EFL imposed a salary cap on Hull City to ensure owner Acun Ilicali couldn’t overspend on player wages after previously splashing the cash.
That meant the Tigers were waiting on several players to come through the door, but after announcing two new signings on Tuesday, Hull Live has revealed that the immediate salary budget the club had been placed under has been removed after sporting director Jared Dublin had a phone call with the EFL.
This has opened the door for City to sign John Lundstram on loan from Trabzonspor, while his teammate Enis Destan will join on a free transfer, and an agreement has been reached for David Akintola.
Encouragingly, the Tigers are hopeful of capturing Oli McBurnie despite strong links to Swansea City, and they’re also confident of getting their three-window fee restriction lifted when their appeal gets heard next week.
So, following an incredibly difficult summer, five out of five wins in pre-season and several new faces arriving have offered supporters increased confidence ahead of 2025/26.

Sergej Jakirovic shares his verdict on Hull trialist Brandon Williams
Ahead of their stunning 2-1 win over Sunderland, fans were pleasantly surprised to see former Manchester United academy graduate Brandon Williams on trial with the club.
Following a difficult few years for the 24-year-old, which included a suspended jail sentence back in May for dangerous driving, Williams is hoping to get his career back on track.
The English full-back came on for the final 10 minutes against the Black Cats, replacing Ryan Giles, and Jakirovic believes there is ‘quality’ there.
“I spoke with him very honestly, and I explained to him what I expect from him. We will be very careful, very, very slow. We have time, so we will try to help him.
“I think the quality is there because he was on a high level at Man United, so his quality is there. We need him to bring good fitness, and then we will make a decision. For me, his mentality is good. From our conversations, he’s a very normal guy.
“He just asked me yesterday (Monday), ‘can I play?’ and then I asked him, ‘do you feel comfortable to play some minutes?’
“His desire is there, and so is the hard work. On Saturday, we left here in Hull to carry on training and so far, everything has gone according to the plan.”
After last appearing for Ipswich Town during their promotion-winning campaign in 2023/24, Williams will be praying he does enough to get offered a contract at Hull.
