West Brom are in advanced talks with local rivals Aston Villa as they desperately try to replace Tom Fellows ahead of Monday’s 7pm transfer deadline.
The England Under 21 international Fellows completed his move to Southampton at the weekend, in spite of him being linked to Everton earlier in the summer, with the Toffees opting to bring in their long-term target Tyler Dibling.
The move has sparked a transfer deadline day rush, with the Baggies looking particularly light in wide attacking areas. Ryan Mason will be eager to find a replacement if his side are to continue their impressive start that sees them sitting second in the Championship table heading into the first international break.
Ryan Mason will have been delighted with their victory over Stoke City, as it denied the Potters the opportunity of equalling a 27-year record in winning their opening four games of a campaign.
However, there will have been an acknowledgment in this performance that Mason needed to strengthen their wide options and it will explain their move for the Aston Villa ace.

West Brom to loan Aston Villa winger Samuel Iling-Junior
It has been reported in the Express and Star that West Brom are chasing a loan deal for the Aston Villa winger Samuel Iling-Junior.
There is an understanding the deal for the 21-year-old would only be on a season-long loan, after they opted to sell Fellows for £10 million to Southampton.

Iling-Junior will come in as another winger option for Albion – but someone who also brings versatility, having featured at left back for Middlesbrough during a loan spell last season.
The England under-21 player spent last year out on loan at both Boro and Bologna.
Michael Carrick was impressed by Samuel Iling-Junior
Samuel Iling-Junior spent part of last season on loan at Middlesbrough under Michael Carrick while also spending time in Serie A with Bologna.
The 21-year-old was used as a versatile option by Michael Carrick, as he was played at full-back, wing-back and on the wing throughout his Middlesbrough spell.
This impressed Carrick, as he mentioned to Teesside Live: “Sammy, without hesitation, did a job for us at left-back. He’s not played an awful lot since getting here. But he’s played left wing-back; he’d played a little at left-back before tonight. He can play off the right and the left, and he is a bit more of an attacker. But he was more than happy to play left-back, though, and it’s a great sign.
“You’d hope and expect he would be, but it’s not always the case. I thought he did well. They tried to freshen it up in the second half and brought on a different winger in the second half, and he dealt with that. It’s important to remember, he is still settling in and finding his feet here too. So fair play to him; the way he approached it, and his attitude again, was fantastic.”
