Birmingham City were looking to continue their superb 2024/25 season when they faced off with Bristol Rovers on Tuesday evening.
Birmingham City made history on April 1 after they managed to do the double over their opponents.
Chris Davies’ side went into the match on the back of a very impressive few months that has seen them dominate their closest rivals in the promotion race.
Birmingham can break a League One record this campaign and given how they have played of late, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it happen.
The Blues have built up a very hefty lead over the likes of Wrexham and Wycombe Wanderers, kicking off their meeting with Bristol Rovers nine points clear of second and with more than double the points of Rovers.

Keshi Anderson praised after Birmingham City beat Bristol Rovers
Birmingham struggled for large parts of the 90 minutes to create any chances but did beat Bristol Rovers 2-1.
Jay Stansfield stole the headlines on April 1 when the club’s record signing managed to score a winner late on from the penalty spot.
But Birmingham’s first goal of the day came after just three minutes from winger Keshi Anderson.
Following the match, speaking to the club’s media, Davies has since singled out Anderson for praise, highlighting both his attacking threat and defensive work-rate.
He said: “I think he’s been excellent, I think he was one of the best players on the pitch, very dangerous with his pace, very direct, is full of confidence, very reliable defensively, presses well.
“And that goal was as good as you’ll see really as a winger on that left side if you can chop in and bend the ball in the top corner then that’s what the best do.
“So it was an excellent start to the game for us, and we looked really sharp, really, really bright.”

Keshi Anderson should start in EFL Trophy final
Anderson has struggled to complete 90 minutes in League One so far this season.
Including the Bristol Rovers meeting, he has done so just twice in all of 2025 so far.
However, he was simply superb on Tuesday evening and should have done enough to warrant more starts for longer periods going forward.
Birmingham face Peterborough in the EFL Trophy final on April 13, and the 29-year-old deserves to be included in the eleven.
