Burnley face a trip to Coventry City on Saturday lunchtime in a game with potentially huge implications at the top of the Championship.
Plenty of eyes will be on this huge encounter, with automatic promotion and play-off implications on the line for Frank Lampard and Scott Parker. The latter will look to take a huge step forward in the Championship title race.

However, a number of clubs are keeping tabs on Lampard’s progress. The former England international has masterminded a remarkable run of form since being appointed in November, when Coventry were languishing in 17th position
Scott Parker has been full of admiration for Lampard previously, while Lampard explained how he has changed as a manager recently and in the experiences he has had since managing Derby County and Chelsea.

Sam Parkin provides his verdict on Coventry City vs Burnley
Coventry’s final-run in is tough, and they’ll be hoping the momentum they gained before the break can carry through to Saturday’s game. While Burnley’s automatic race could go down to the wire and the final games of the season.
With Leeds falling apart again, both Burnley and the Blades will be licking their lips and fancying automatic promotion right now. Especially as Burnley have been breaking records all season.
Though, recently, they have hit a new level of late that makes them a frightening prospect. The form of Maxime Esteve and others has been excellent in making them incredibly difficult to score against, too.
Lampard and Parker have even been teammates in the past — at Chelsea and with England — and opponents both on and off the field as players and manager. They face off with plenty at stake in a tricky game to call.
EFL pundit and Sky Sports co-commentator Sam Parkin spoke to Benjamin Bloom to provide his score prediction ahead of the latest game between the pair.
Bloom said: “Now, this is a tricky one. Burnley are obviously 26 games undefeated, Coventry were well beaten by Sheffield United, but that was at Bramall Lane and this is at the CBS.
“I’m going to take a low-scoring draw. So, I am going to have Burnley dropping points in this one. I’m going to play a 1-1.”
Parkin added: “Yeah, I think low-scoring. I am working on this one. I think Coventry are going to be in the play-offs.
“But I can’t back against Burnley at the moment. Two defeats all season. [It’s] a tricky tricky game.
“Statement win. 2-1 Burnley.”

Burnley and Coventry both have excellent form in 2025
Coventry City have been mixing it with the very best in the league so far in 2025, highlighting the size of the task for Burnley this weekend. It’s arguably their toughest remaining away game.
| Position | Team | Played | Goal difference | Points |
| 1 | Burnley | 15 | +21 | 33 |
| 2 | Sheffield United | 15 | +8 | 32 |
| 3 | Coventry City | 15 | +7 | 31 |
| 4 | Leeds United | 15 | +22 | 30 |
| 5 | Sunderland | 15 | +4 | 28 |
Their away form has been outstanding in 2024/25 but they will have to play well to take all three points from this one against a truly resurgent side with momentum heading into the play-offs.
However, of Coventry’s four defeats since the turn of the year, two have come against Burnley’s automatic promotion rivals. They will have to hope for more of that than the 3-0 win they claimed over Sunderland prior to the international break.
