Sheffield Wednesday took to the pitch for the first time in three months on Sunday afternoon, and were quite the surprise package in the Championship.
While the Owls were beaten 2-1 by Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, supporters were extremely proud of their team, although Barry Bannan was sent off in the second-half.
Nevertheless, a highly rotated side is expected to face Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday evening in the Carabao Cup first round with the South Yorkshire outfit having a very limited number of senior players available.
The departures of Josh Windass and Michael Smith were tough to take for Sheffield Wednesday in July, but they have now been boosted by a decision taken by another player who had handed his notice in at Hillsborough.

Max Lowe will stay at Sheffield Wednesday
The Owls have just 16 senior players in their squad, and with Nathaniel Chalobah now injured, they have been limited even further.

Max Lowe had previously handed his notice in at Sheffield Wednesday, and his departure looked as though it was going to be coming in a matter of days. However, he has now reversed this decision.
That’s according to The Star, who have reported that all those currently at Hillsborough are committed to the club and any further departures are now unlikely.
Lowe has previously played for bitter rivals Sheffield United, as well as Derby County and Nottingham Forest, but will now look to add to the 38 appearances that he has to his name at Sheffield Wednesday.

This is a huge win for Henrik Pedersen
After all the off-field issues, Pedersen has tried his best to remain calm as he looks to guide the Owls to safety – something that would be utterly remarkable this season.
However, he needs players to be able to do that. Sheffield Wednesday are now off the EFL embargo list, but they remain restricted to signing free agents and loan players only.

Losing a player like Lowe would have been extremely difficult, with a replacement near-impossible to find at this moment in time and this would have seriously hampered Pedersen’s plans.
EFL fans believe that the Owls can avoid relegation, and this will only be a boost for them as they look to beat the odds in the Championship.
