Leeds United face Swansea City at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon, with the Whites looking to maintain their place at the Championship summit.
The end of season run-in is upon us and there remains plenty to be decided, including the race for the play-offs and battle to survive, as well as automatic promotion for Leeds and their two close competitors.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 1 | 38 | 23 | 11 | 4 | 76 | 25 | 51 | 80 | |
| 2 | 38 | 25 | 7 | 6 | 53 | 28 | 25 | 80 | |
| 3 | 38 | 21 | 15 | 2 | 52 | 11 | 41 | 78 | |
| 4 | 38 | 19 | 12 | 7 | 55 | 37 | 18 | 69 | |
| 5 | 38 | 17 | 8 | 13 | 55 | 48 | 7 | 59 | |
| 6 | 38 | 13 | 18 | 7 | 48 | 34 | 14 | 57 |
With each aiming to gain the financial reward of automatic promotion, but also possibly to be among the highest points tallies in Championship history in the process, given the competition and PPG rate currently.
Burnley’s ‘best’ form of the season means that the Clarets are breaking records currently. The run-in has Leeds’ games as the easiest remaining fixtures and they know they must escape the play-offs, given Leeds’ record at Wembley and Daniel Farke knows avoiding a repeat of last season is vital.

Championship expert makes bold Leeds United prediction against Swansea City
Leeds will hope for a favour from Frank Lampard and Coventry City against Sheffield United tonight, but they must also do their own job on Saturday afternoon against Alan Sheehan’s Swansea side, even if supercomputers are predicting promotion for Farke’s men from the Championship.
Nick Goff of the Not The Top 20 podcast has had his say on the outcome of the game on Saturday afternoon and outlined an ‘insane Leeds stat’ in the process. He said: “Let’s start with the team I — and many others — need to win the Championship, Leeds United.
“Who are making more heavy weather of this than any of us anticipated. I still think they should probably win the league, but now they are in an three-way battle with eight games to go.
“It’s all getting a little bit worrying. However, I’ll give you a stat about Leeds United. They have played so many 12.30 games this season, because Sky want Leeds on TV a lot — as you would expect, and then a lot of evening midweek games because that’s the Championship and EFL in general.
“They’ve only played six home games this season at three o’clock on a Saturday. How have they done? They have won all six, scoring 21, and conceding zero. Absolutely zero.”
He added: “There’s a point here to be made about how playing at three o’clock and how that normal structure of a week helps the better football team. And having to go away and play at 12.30 and your players have their pre-match meal, which is basically at breakfast time — it takes everything off-kilter slightly.
“When Leeds play football matches when they’re supposed to be played: they batter everyone. It might only be a sample of six, but it’s a good enough sample for me to be sure.
“Swansea can rightly describe themselves, should they wish to — and they wouldn’t but they are, as one of the first teams on the beach. There’s probably six teams across the EFL now who are definitely not going up or into the play-offs but who are definitely not going down. Not quite more than that with with eight games to go but they would be one of them, Swansea.
“An away game at three o’clock to Leeds on a Saturday? No sir, not for Swansea, I don’t think. Leeds to win-to-nil. They’ve done it in every three o’clock game this season, including the last one — which was 7-0 against Cardiff.”

How can Swansea stifle Leeds’ attack against numerous threats?
Leeds United, Sheffield United, and Burnley have pulled away at the top of the league, partly due to the quality in their Championship squads. There have been calls that Leeds could miss vital leadership figures in 2024/25 but they have an abundance of talent, too.
Leeds fans are backing Ao Tanaka for the Championship’s Player of the Year award this season, although Michael Cooper and James Trafford have excelled and deserve mentions for their respective teams.
EFL experts have described Tanaka and Wilson Isidor as the best signings this season in the Championship. While Manor Solomon has been in superb form on loan from Tottenham Hotspur so far this term, especially with Junior Firpo’s outstanding displays for his country and club down that flank.
While the likes of Dan James and Joel Piroe will hope to score against their former side, having both done so in the last two seasons in this fixture. Leeds have scored 11 goals and won three times in this fixture since relegation from the Premier League.
That includes Piroe (x2) and James scoring in two of the three clashes, while Willy Gnonto has also been prolific in the clashes against Swansea, including scoring the winner back in November’s 4-3 thriller.
