Norwich City told it’s ‘a matter of time’ before Mirko Topic achieves one thing amid ‘tailor-made’ claim

The latest new arrival at Carrow Road already comes with a great degree of hype, and Norwich City will be licking their lips at the prospect of what Mirko Topic can achieve with the club.

Liam Manning is putting together a squad capable of challenging at the very top of the table this season, with a whole host of new players joining his Norwich City revolution.

With Manning looking for some muscle in the middle of the park, it’s hardly surprising he’s opted to sign Serbian enforcer Mirko Topic.

The 24-year-old becomes the latest Norwich City signing, and all the talk around the midfielder suggests the Canaries have bagged themselves a gem.

Expert tips Mirko Topic for Premier League

We previously spoke to Serbian football expert Kristijan Plazonja who told us all about Mirko Topic’s standout qualities ahead of his move to Norwich.

Now that the switch has been finalised, Plazonja has taken to Twitter/X to share his thoughts on Topic once more, and it’s yet another glowing reference for the Serbian star. However, Norwich fans will be wary of one thing.

He said: “Mirko Topić might not be in the Premier League yet, but now that he’s joined Norwich, it feels like only a matter of time. Whether he gets there with them or catches the attention of someone else, his game is tailor-made for English football.

“He’s arguably the most underrated Serbian midfielder at the moment. It’s honestly hard to understand how Gudelj and Maksimović continue to start ahead of him, as there’s barely anything they do better than Topić.

“He’s made real progress physically. You can see it in his frame, but more importantly, the data supports it. The advanced metrics I’ve seen rate him extremely well across the board, whether it’s intensity with and without the ball, sprint output, or his Peak Sprint Velocity at the 99th percentile (PSV99 rating), he’s posting standout numbers. He’s still only 24, and there’s a lot more to come.”

Considering Topic nearly joined Atletico Madrid last summer, it’s no wonder he’s being mooted as a potential top flight player in the near future. Now, Norwich just have to make sure they get promoted quickly so he can achieve that dream with them.

Norwich City have to be among favourites for promotion this season

Considering the strong signings Norwich have made, and the fact that, as things stand, Josh Sargent remains with the club, you’d have to back the Canaries to go up this season.

It’s going to be a very competitive Championship this year. Birmingham City will throw themselves right into the mix, while the relegated trio of Southampton, Ipswich, and Leicester all look strong.

However, Norwich have improved where they needed to (in defence) and have maintained most of their firepower while also adding some really exciting unknown quantities like Mathias Kvistgaarden and Pape Diallo.

The Championship 2025/26 will be fascinating to watch, and we’re tipping Norwich to be right up there come the end of the season.
