Only one club has achieved incredible EFL record, and they’ve now miraculously done it twice

One EFL side managed a brilliant achievement this weekend for the second time.

This weekend saw plenty of action across the EFL, notably in the Championship.

The Championship relegation scrap took a turn as Plymouth Argyle beat high-flying Sheffield United, whilst Luton Town suffered a shock defeat at Blackburn Rovers, one that has severely hampered their prospects of staying in the Championship next season.

Away from the second-tier, Peterborough saw off Birmingham City in the EFL Trophy, a brilliant achievement for a Posh side that has certainly struggled as they sit in the lower echelons of the League One table.

Another incredible feat achieved in the EFL might have been missed by some, and it was achieved by Port Vale after they beat Bromley 5-0, something that goes far beyond the five-goal thriller they completed on Saturday afternoon.

Port Vale achieve incredible EFL record for the second time despite no other club managing it once

Darren Moore’s Port Vale currently find themselves at the summit of the League Two table after their recent home win against Bromley, played in front of a packed-out Vale Park.

Whilst on the surface it looked like just a 5-0 demolition by Moore’s side, the former Sheffield Wednesday and West Brom boss helped Vale achieve an incredible record, becoming the first ever EFL side to defeat all of the current 91 Premier League and EFL clubs in league fixtures, not just once, but twice.

This achievement, in hindsight, is even more incredible with no other team having managed to do it even once.

Following their promotion from the National League, Bromley remained the final side for Port Vale to beat to achieve such a feat, and their 5-0 victory sealed it at the weekend.

Darren Moore has done an incredible job at Port Vale as League Two promotion nears

The appointment of Moore in February 2024 at Port Vale looked incredibly ambitious due to the fact that he had just come off the back of promotion with Sheffield Wednesday before his surprising exit.

Fast forward over a year, and Moore has got the club going in an upwards trajectory, which looks to have put them in a prime position to return to League One.

They are currently five points ahead of Doncaster Rovers in the League Two table, although Grant McCann’s side do have a game in hand of Vale, but, if any side is to drop out of the top three based on form, it is likely to be Walsall after their significant drop in form.
